Sandra Fluke first gained national attention when Rush Limbaugh called her a slut on his radio show. During an appearance on MSNBCs The Ed Show Thursday to discuss her bid for the California State Senate, Fluke agreed with Ed Schultz that Limbaugh may have actually done her a favor by bringing her that extra exposure.
As a Georgetown University law student in 2012, Fluke was initially barred from testifying on contraception to an all-male Congressional panel by its Republican members before ultimately testifying to Democrats on the issue. She argued her school should have to include contraception in its health care coverage despite any moral objections it may have.
Following Flukes testimony, Limbaugh called her a slut and a prostitute on his radio show, adding, If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch. He later apologized to Fluke for his insulting word choices.
I think Limbaugh did you a favor by putting you out there like that and I hope you understand where Im going on that, Schultz told Fluke today. I mean exposure is very important, people now look to you in a big, big way for leadership on some very pertinent issues.
I agree with you that exposure is important, Fluke said in response, because it lets us shine a light on important issues we need to be talking about.
On the issue of a congressional run, which had previously discussed, versus the State Senate campaign she settled on, Fluke said she just wanted to go where she think can affect the most progressive change.

LOL! Rush is going to have a ball with this!
Go Rush!!
Well, Pelosi just came out with blatant support of homosexual recruitment of minors.
Rush, if he's smart, will not even mention the slut.
She is trolling for more exposure.
Why would she need more exposure? Even before she made the news, Fluke was getting exposure to dozens of guys a day (extrapolating from her claimed birth control costs).
No one will say it I will, Rush has stepped into it more than once, i.e. Ms Fluke. NAFTA IMHO was his biggest flub, agreeing with Al Gore on that one 20 years hence I hate to say Perot was right, as well as Pat Buchanan’s most recent editorial on how the GOP has lost the Reagan Democrats post the Bush Clan....
Your teenaged kids or teen grandchildren are accompanying you as you shop in the Health Products department of your local store. Another teen or young adult gal who your kids know (say, through an older sibling) to be pretty promiscuous, is also there, and she complains about the price of condoms, says she thinks they should be free. One of the teens in your charge chides her for it and calls her a "slut" in the hearing of everyone there.
Do you praise that kid for "speaking truth to power," or do you give that brat a good dressing-down for behaving in a way that is rude and purely destructive? Do you say, "Way to go, son! That girl is a SLUT, a WHORE! You're right! She is so wrong to complain about the price of birth control!" Or do you say, "Son, I agree with you that she's wrong in what she says, but you had better figure out a smarter, more civil way to say the same thing because the way you're doing it now is totally wrong for a REASON. Insulting a person's dignity, as opposed to disputing a person's opinion, WILL BACKFIRE every time you do something like that because insulting a person's dignity is WHAT BAD PEOPLE DO."
This is backfiring on Rush and the rest of America because Rush ABANDONED any idea of behaving like a decent Christian when he called Fluke a "slut," AND THIS IS THE PRICE.
Way to go, Rush.
THANK YOU for saying what it seems like no one else will — thank you for pointing out why “Republican” has such a bad, negative, ugly image. See my post #10.
If I remember correctly Fluke expected her insurance through a Catholic institution to pay for her birth control for her out of wedlock sex. She broadcast her wishes to the entire world. What a slut!
Rush commented on Fluke's speech without having heard her speech. He picked up a news summary from a conservative blog and riffed on it. Rush even named the blog.
Near the beginning of her talk, Fluke said she wasn't going to talk about her own life, but the stories of other women, and that's what she did.
She told four ridiculous stories and one that, if true, was a insurance medical need issue, not a contractive need issue.
Fluke never spoke about her own sex life.
You can read Fluke's speech here.
Rubbish.
"When I look around my campus, I see the faces of the women affected, and I have heard more and more of their stories. . On a daily basis, I hear from yet another woman from Georgetown or other schools or who works for a religiously affiliated employer who has suffered financial, emotional, and medical burdens because of this lack of contraceptive coverage. And so, I am here to share their voices and I thank you for allowing them to be heard."
Then she proceeded to tell specific stories about other women.
The only personal thing Fluke said was that she made $3,000 a summer while working on a public interest internship.
You read her speech and show me where she talked about her own sex life. Quote it here and back up your talk.
On the other hand, had she kept her mouth shut -- what then? Or what if her opinion was that government should get out of the contraception biz altogether? Would she still be a slut, and would Rush or anyone else be causing anything but strife for saying she was a "slut" loudly and clearly for expressing either opinion, her being a loose promiscuous woman and all? Or should "slut" only be reserved for promiscuous women who are on the LEFT?
The kinds of people who pronounce others to be "sluts" are lazy, angry, bitter, short-sighted, and could use some serious reflection on what Jesus teaches in the Bible. The kinds of people who pronounce others to be "sluts" as an argument against said "slut's" opinion, need a swift kick in the ass. Apparently, fate agrees with me because THIS, Fluke's running for California Senate with helpful name-recognition via Rush, IS Rush's "swift kick in the ass." Those who defend Rush on this are NINNIES.
Hey -- I'm just calling 'em like I see 'em.
"One student told us that she knew birth control wasnt covered, and she assumed thats how Georgetowns insurance handled all of womens sexual healthcare, so when she was raped, she didnt go to the doctor even to be examined or tested for sexually transmitted infections because she thought insurance wasnt going to cover something like that, something that was related to a womans reproductive health."
Her friend's problem wasn't that her insurance didn't cover contraceptives; her friend's problem was that she was stupid. Contraceptives don't cure stupidity.
Rush should have attacked Fluke on the actual, ridiculous arguments she made for mandatory contraceptive converage.

He wanted to see pictures. Now we see her constantly on teevee. Thanks, Rush.
