In an abrupt switch from his months of work to bring immigration reform back from life support, Speaker John Boehner told reporters today that the issue cannot move forward until President Obama proves he can be a trustworthy partner to implement the law as written.
There's widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws. And it's going to be difficult to move any immigration legislation until that changes, Boehner said.
The change in tack comes after rank-and-file members pushed hard against immigration principles unveiled at a retreat last week and top immigration hawks had begun to discuss how they could thwart Boehner in his march to bring the issue to the floor.

Whatever it is we're all doing, let's all keep doing it!! Because it's working! They are scared to death of moving this thing and they should be!
And they still may play the "after the primary filing dates" game so keep your eye out!

Wow, Boehner got smart, maybe, I don’t trust the GOPe. I’ll bet the GOP will go into the chamber after primaries are over and pass this monstrosity.

What’s he need 18 R votes to go with the Dems to pass it? It is possible he didn’t even have the R votes he needed?

“Saving it for the lame duck session?”
That’s their last card trick. The problem with that is that they wouldn’t be able to get lots of people on the voting rolls before the election to stem a conservative tide, which is their whole point in pushing it.
But I wouldn’t put it past, say a defeated McConnell and a retiring Boehner to try to push it through before a new Congress is seated. For then they will have to start all over again.

I would guess that giving Obama a big visible win on Immigration (now) would unify Dems and destroy House Republicans. Win meaning a bill he signs.
He won NOTHING with passing the Senate bill.

No, he changed his tune when he heard rumblings from conservatives pushing for him to lose his Speaker post. Boehner has no principle except survival as Speaker.

Trying to save his phony-baloney job, no doubt.

Maybe my call to his DC office did some good.I told the woman “if anything even remotely resembling amnesty passes my contributions to the Party and it's candidates stop and,for the first time since I became eligible to vote,I'll make it a point to be busy on election day this November”.

One wonders, just what would Obama have to do to prove this? After five years of him being him, Boehner still holds out hope? Seriously?
I wish the Republicans in the house had the collective IQ of room temperature. This guy would be a vapor trail leaving the Speaker's office.

Saving it for the lame duck session?
From 2 days ago Texas Sen. John Cornyn, saying he was very skeptical that anythings going to happen between now and November.
Now and NOVEMBER? What about DECEMBER and the Lame Duck Session, Cornyn??
