RE “There's widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws. And it's going to be difficult to move any immigration legislation until that changes,” Boehner said. “

??? He didn't know this BEFORE the retreat?

I would guess that giving Obama a big visible win on Immigration (now) would unify Dems and destroy House Republicans. Win meaning a bill he signs.

He won NOTHING with passing the Senate bill.

Boehner has already caused enormous damage with his immigration principles. GOP candidates will be asked point by point where they stand by many of us along with the Dems. And immigration promises to be a big issue in GOP primaries. It will be in VA.

And don't buy the line that the push for immigration reform is over this year. It is not. Zuckerberg continues to spend millions on his media blitz. The Chamber of Commerce is placing pressure on the Reps to come through for them linking it to donations.

The Senate bill is another disaster for the Reps, including the 14 Reps who supported it. Rubio is about finished as a Presidential candidate and guys like Alexander, Corker, Ayotte, Graham, et. al. have pissed off many of their constituents. The Gang of 8 bill should have been killed using the cloture rules.
