Eesley, a salesman at Black Wing Shooting Center in Delaware, said he sells plenty of silencers, but he often has to first educate people about the reality. A silenced gun still makes quite a bang.
More than 20 lawmakers or their aides gathered yesterday at Black Wing to learn a similar lesson and hear from an expert on how silencers, or suppressors, can affect the noise levels of hunting rifles. The event was organized by the Buckeye Firearms Association in an effort to gain support for House Bill 234, which would allow hunting with a suppressor. . . . . .
Supporters of the bill argue that allowing use of a suppressor would help protect hunters from hearing damage; make it easier for hunters, particularly children, to hear commands from others; and make hunting less of a nuisance for those living nearby.

Finally, some common sense begins to break through.
The onerous restrictions on suppressors created a serious public health issue.
So... a suppressor makes a gun go from “Bang!” to “psheeew” like in the movies, right?
I don’t have a lot of time around silencers but at best they reduce a bang to a .22 pop.
from “silenced” revolvers to gasoline tanks blowing up when hit by a bullet, Hollywood has been a bad education tool.
Prior to this they wrote legislation based on crap they saw in a James Bond movie.
The Legislators all thought they worked like the ones in TV and Movies.
It’s either Norway or Finland where, I believe, use of a “silencer” is REQUIRED.
I don’t have any experience with suppressors but it sounds like your comparison is in keeping with the details in the article. I’m just appreciative that there was some actual education going on with the lawmakers so they’re not crafting junk legislation based on Hollywood dramatizations that have no bearing in the real world.
I thought silencers were illegal in Delaware.
They go "pew pew pew"
:^)
Adopt 5 liberals and take them shooting.
Yeah, I say a movie with a revolver with a silencer. Like the sound doesn’t have about a million places to leak out of.
I think the current class 3 laws would be an excellent vehicle for breaking into local politics. Run for county sheriff and promise to sign off on any class 3 requests to anyone in the county who donated a minimum of $1 to your campaign. Then take your bargain to the local sportsmans clubs, gun shops, shooting ranges, etc.
say, saw, you know what I mean...

It has actually been a great education tool for the progressive/Communist movement. 51% get their news and values from TV and movies.
But the do get one thing about guns right. Bad guys will always have them.
