The sun was just beginning to rise over the Rocky Mountains, but Sheriff Justin Smith was already awake. He was standing outside Fort Collins High School shivering in the frigid cold.
It was 12 degrees. Snow was falling. But Mr. Smith, wearing his dress blues, stood resolute, waving an American flag.
The sheriff of Larimer County, Colorado had come to school Tuesday to send a message to those responsible for educating the countys children. The sheriff was not in a good mood.
He was standing in the winter snow to protest the schools decision to ban a celebration of American patriotism.
(snip)
But after a day of righteous Rocky Mountain outrage, the principal at Fort Collins High School reversed course and apologized.

Journalism majors... the dregs of the dregs.
Looks like a truncated Conehead.
” whoever would have thought that American teenagers would be treated as second-class citizens in their own country?”
I get a big kick out of this. I was in high school in the 40s and we teens sure as hell didn’t have any rights.
.
Thanks for posting the info on the school principal. I thought that that was the information, unfortunate, missing from the Fox article.
Good point and if I were writing this I would have said; "The sun was just beginning to rise ON the Rocky Mountains" as the sun would light them before reaching the lower elevations. Then again, I was taught grammar, geography and general science in my school days.
My Sheriff! :-)
“Uh...Wait a minute here. How does the sun rise over the Rocky Mountains if Sheriff was east of the mountains?”
Journalistic/poetic license??
I’m sure that right now, at this very moment, John Boehner is wondering what he can do to silence Sheriff Justin Smith.
yes it is. perhaps the rising sun reflecting off the mountains to the west. WTH the sun set over the south china sea in THE GREEN BERETS.
I live east of the Rocky Mountains and I do plenty of things as the sun rises over them. I also do plenty of things as the sun rises over Honolulu. I've also been known to do things as the sun rises over Tokyo.
:-P
How does he see the sun reflecting off the mountains when it was cold, snowing, and cloudy?
We remember what it was like before this winter. Before Glowbull Warming.
Does not surprise me a bit. Fort Collins wants to be Boulder, which wants to be Berkeley. The crazy escalates, and they got caught. I am sure this is just the tip of the anti-American iceberg in that place.
Oh. It seems he is from California and went to university there. One of the hundreds of thousands who have from from CA to Colorado to get away from the dysfunction and are busy, busy, busy ruining it and making it as miserable as their home state.
This creep principal has been up to no good for years: viz
Reporting delay harmed Fort Collins teacher-student sex investigation
Allegations of misconduct by a Fort Collins High School teacher were known by school officials for more than two years before they reached police.
In October 2009, Fort Collins High School Principal Mark Eversole first learned of suspicions that Roberts, now 42, had been sexually involved with students. Before that, some of Roberts peers at the school dawdled for years in one case, for a decade before reporting their concerns to supervisors. In April 2012, police launched the investigation that led to Roberts suspension and resignation.
Eversole and Poudre School District administrators didnt share the allegations with police until investigators questioned them when a therapist came forward with a complaint in 2012. Under Colorado law, educators and therapists are among the professions obligated to report any reasonable suspicion of child abuse to law enforcement.
Fort Collins police say the two-and-a-half-year reporting delay by the public school officials obstructed their ability to determine whether Roberts had inappropriate sexual relationships with the students. But a county prosecutor said the allegations against Roberts were never concrete enough to compel PSD to bring them to police.
In the end, three of the four former students police interviewed in 2012 denied they had been romantically involved with Roberts. The fourth provided detailed accounts of dates and an overnight trip to a Denver hotel with Roberts. She told investigators that she and Roberts had sex, but not until after she turned 18 the legal age of consent in Colorado so police never interviewed Roberts, and their investigation concluded without any criminal charges against him.
I think Mr. Roberts was inappropriate, said Fort Collins police Sgt. Kristy Volesky, who supervised the investigation centering on Roberts. I dont know if he was criminal or not.
Police say Roberts denied to acquaintances they interviewed that he was ever sexually involved with students. He attributed the string of accusations against him to student crushes and rampant high-school rumor mongering.

Apologies on behalf of the remaining few of us Californians who aren’t part of the insane leftist dysfunction.
School administrators covered up sex abuse? Imagine that.
Does Fort Collins location prevent the sun from rising over the Rocky Mountains?
Yep, turn on the lights and bugs scatter!
