Romney breaks silence on Candy Crowley’s debate interference
The Daily Caller ^ | 1/27/2014 | Patrick Howley

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney offered a harsh critique of CNN debate moderator Candy Crowley’s interference in his second debate with President Obama in 2012.

Crowley infamously butted in to an exchange between Romney and Obama regarding the Obama administration’s changing of the Benghazi talking points. Crowley’s assertion that Obama was right in the argument led to multiple rounds of applause in the studio audience — an agonizing moment that was featured prominently in the new behind-the-scenes Netflix documentary “MITT.”

Romney addressed Crowley’s debate performance in an interview Monday with conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt.

“Well, I don’t think it’s the role of the moderator in a debate to insert themselves into the debate and to declare a winner or a loser on a particular point. And I must admit that at that stage, I was getting a little upset at Candy, because in a prior setting where I was to have had the last word, she decided that Barack Obama was to get the last word despite the rules that we had,” Romney said.

Why the GOP keeps agreeing to a debate with liberal moderators is beyond me. Just plain stupidity, I guess.

What he should have had is the guts to tell her to shut her fat mouth. That it was about him and Osama, not about fat Candy.

One cannot underestimate the effect on a public debater to be “corrected” by the moderator.

You lost, Mitt. Get over it.

Undoubtedly you are one of the anti-Mitt and went for no voting or King Obama. You, and many like you, decided that the voters selected Romney during the primaries and but you were smarter. You will never see your mistake. It is the lame that never understood that Romney would have killed Obamacare and led America back to financial responsibility. Thanks.

Hewitt lead his show with this on Monday.

Hewitt was a huge Romney cheerleader, even writing a book about him to try and position him for the White House.

Hewitt was among the most strident in insisting Romney had a huge lead and would win in a blow out.

It’s hard to know why he is still pushing Romney.

One possibility is that, believe it or not, there seems to be GOPe country clubbers (like Hewitt) who are trying to position Romney for 2016.

Another, less insidious, is that this is promotion for the Romney documentary that has just been released.

Yet, Romney isn’t going to get richer off that.

The reality, I think, is that they are hoping to position Romney for another run and this documentary is part of the early PR strategy.

Hey Mitt, I know what it's like to think of a good comeback after it's too late to matter. We're all getting older.

But 15 months later??? Hang it up, dude.

Stop!!!

Is he running for the republican nomination again? That act where he overwhelms his opponents with smiling smarmy snideness and private $billions and then ontroduces the New Democrat president two months before the election?

I hope no one here is talking about buying this. It’s worse than Obama, in many ways, it enables Obama. If he couldn’t overtake candy Crowley, an anti American miseducated journalist on Benghazi, no one here better think he could take on Hillary over it

He needs to get out of sight.

Go home Romney anti conservative obstructionist

Mitt is too wishy washy, too gentle, too nice, to be in the same arena of political fight with a community organizer (rabble rouser) from south side of Chicago.

I hope and pray our nominee in 2016 will not be like Mitt, Will not be cowed easily, will know what the Bush Doctrine is, and can answer any gotcha questions thrown at him by the liberal MSM.

Exactly. The time to have made a stand was at the moment Crowley opened her fat pie hole.

A 'take charge' kind of guy would have silenced her and told her to keep her place as Moderator...Not expose her status as a sycophant.

We have enough pussies in public office. Time for a new generation.
