The Tea Party should hold their own convention one month prior to the GOP.
At first glance this seems symbolic only. But upon further reflection, some united statement coming out of a "Tea Party Convention" about who conservatives should vote for could have a chance to affect the eventual nominee. If we could at least get all conservatives voting for he same guy, it might reduce the dilution of votes that always get the establishment and media "their guy".

It can be done and I believe more easily than most would at first think.
For example, the Tea Party Convention could be a hybrid virtual convention where state TP delegations attend state convention centers with all conventions tied together in live video. No need to make one city the epicenter.
In addition to nominating a TP conservative a TP convention could adopt a platform.
Heres why I think its a feasible and potent proposal:
The loose assemblage of Tea Party organizations has in the past and can again represent nearly 70 million Americans comprising conservatives, independents, libertarians, the blue collar Perot Bloc (more than 6 million) and Reagan democrats (more than 7 million). There will also be a significant bloc of voters that go with their perception of who will be a winner.
These numbers are possible and even probable given the grievances that most Americans have with both political parties today.
Republicans such as Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and other recent TP champions can attend both conventions. But their presence at the TP Convention one month before that of the GOP will empower them to be movers and shakers in the latter.
My own view above:

Ive been floating the same idea for about a month now.
Tea party gets behind one in the beginning. Much easier to beat the GOPe that way.
maybe even send a GOPe ringer in too.

Cool, how about some links? Thanks.
You’ve never heard of toilet paper?
TPM is the standard, for Tea Party Movement.
The convention should be one month AFTER the GOPe has their show.
The minor parties in NY were very influential when I was a kid, especially the Liberal Party, based on whether they would accept or reject the major parties’ nominees.
Maybe that's just me
I appreciate the concern and thanks for bringing awareness to the loose knit structure of Tea Party groups.
The amorphous structure of the Tea Party is what prevents the state run media from unleashing Alinsky style tactics in the manner of fixing on a person, freezing that person and proceeding to destroy the person.
It helps that many Tea Party champions have the ‘R’ besides their name because state run media can’t pin them down so easily to the Tea Party when they can counter they are republicans.
We need ideas. I envision videos of each state’s Tea Party delegations waving flags of their state and waiting for the moment to announce who they nominate to represent the Tea Party platform. I see these delegates as having been selected by the loose knit Tea Party organizations inside their states.
I think the convention organizers can for all intents and purposes remain pretty much anonymous.
But I do share you concern that we don’t want to give rise to a rigid political party hierarchy that will be tempted to fold in with the DC corrupted ruling class.
Need more ideas and views on this.
Wouldn’t putting a conservative candidate up against the GOP nominee (from the GOP convention) and the Democrat nominee just result in splitting the Republican vote two ways and make it easier for the Democrat candidate to win?
Yes.
Virtual.
With house parties for people to watch online.
Excellent idea.
Live Streaming Video on the internet.
Announcement and location advertising for ‘house parties’.
The main reporter there was Matt Boyle: here are his archives. If you go down, you’ll see that many of them are related to SC TP event.

I have, but in an adult conversation, which might preclude you now that I think of it, most folks will understand that’s not what is meant.
What other states that you know of have had or are going to have Tea Party Conventions?
the quintessential TPM idea????
www.virtualcongressnow.com
comingsoon .it’s GONNA BE BIG!
and as a talk show host in Wisconsin called it recently, it’s “instant tea” as a killer issue.
Interesting....website still not up yet.
As another poster said it’s an exercise in herding cats but cats always run to the food bowl when they’re hungry.
So the Tea Party delegate cats can run to a one-time semi-virtual convention to get their candidate of choice on record.
Depending on date, I should be able to make it.
I would love to get conservatives on the same page. No Rinos!!!
I would think if Ted Cruz were to show up that picture would change substantially.
Love it. Please ping me if you start a list of those interested in participating or updates. Thanks.
What a great idea — conservatives finally getting assertive, and doing something other than whine about how bad the other guys are.
but I do own the needed URLs .and working this idea behind the scenes ..
Stay tuned!
