Un-freaking-believable. Force a parent to be a dues-paying “union member” for taking care of their own child. The Mafia never had that much nerve. The SEIU is government-endorsed Mafia.

Since the state sets the conditions and the pay, there is no collective bargaining to be done, so just exactly what does the union do for the worker?
Other than get a state mandated first $hot at the benefit to the disabled person.

So state employees are thus entitled to minimum wages, vacation time, pensions, health care, etc., right (not that the union would care so long as they get their cut)?

If she considered is a state employee, does she get employees benefits, state health care benefits, and a pension and everything else a state employee gets?
It would worth it to pay union benefits and receive those state benefits.

Sometimes I think what a wonderful thing it would be if an organization of a million or two could be formed for the express purpose of joining groups like the SEIU en masse and taking it over. Once in control fundamental changes could be forced. Of course, that would depend upon honest union elections.

The Nazi’s created a system similar to this, called “The German Labor Front.” After they eliminated private unions, all workers were forced to join their version of the SEIU, and pay dues out of their salaries to the Party.
