Are you dazed and confused by Barack Obama, the nominal Democrat, whose conduct as president since 2009 has seen him sink from nearly 70 percent to 40 percent or less in the national polling, from which he has seemed to learn nothing, but still marches on?
Fear not, the doctor is in: Fred Siegel of the Manhattan Institute, whose latest book, The Revolt Against The Masses: How Liberalism Has Undermined the Middle Class, explains all you wanted to know about Obama, and much else. It explains why he never became the new Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy or Lyndon B. Johnson at his best, as he and they belong to quite different wings of their party.
They wished to see the middle class thrive and enjoy their prosperity, but Obama comes from a dissident strain that finds this unnerving. Most conservative critiques of the Left blame the big government-drift, from the progressives to the New Deal to the Great Society, for most of our problems, but Siegel points to an alternative point of dissension: a contempt for the middle class, for commerce, and thus for most of the American culture, that predated the New Deal by more than a decade, and poisons our waters today.
From this angle, the road to perdition (and/or Obama) was paved around 1920, when the best and the brightest, depressed by the Great War and the funk that came after, decided all was not well in the world and the nation, and the great middle class was to blame. In rant after rant, book after book, play after play, H.G. Wells, George Bernard Shaw, Sinclair Lewis, and the editors of The Nation and The New Republic heaped scorn on the bourgeoisie and on business as peasants unworthy of those...always knew better than they.

Well I’m not so sure Obama and LBJ come from different wings of the party. I think LBJ also hated the middle class.
It is his plan to never have an election, hope I am wrong, our voting process has been corrupted,
Falling back on race is a sign of desperation.
He was trying to avoid using this issue because it makes him look petty. He preferred to let his minions do it.
Liberal democrats of a prior era may have wanted to see the middle-class prosper, but Obama is not a liberal democrat. He’s a Marxist. You’re not supposed to say that in polite company.
Marxists always sought to destroy the middle class as a means of reducing everyone to the same mutinous state of misery. This would, they believed, facilitate a revolution where their elites could grab control of the state.
Obama is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s seeking to make his marxist takeover permanent.
Communists HATE the middle class, specifically because the MC can enjoy SOME of the luxuries that the ruling class has.
They prefer a peasant class living in squalor,
and a ruling class living in luxury.
Five years, 3 months too late.
GREAT traitor jpg
I agree .. Mr. Howell (whoever he is) hit that one outta the park !
True, that!
The middle class WORKS for what they have! Communists don't like to be reminded of their laziness by those who work.
Amazing how much the wicked hate “mirrors”.
(The Ten Commandments are the archetypal example)
“Who is the 39%? Dem. base to include about 95% of Black vote that will never leave him.”
Since Blacks account for 13% of the population, you need to decrement this number by say 12%, leaving 27% OTB (other than Black) who think things are going well. If Obama were sending the Germans gas chambers, the Blacks would still support him. With them it’s skin color uber alles!
There are HOR members and maybe a Senator or two who seem solid on our issue....the invasion...for sure. But you know what? Not one of them, even the most conservative, has told minority youth that Obama is taking jobs from them and handing them to non-citizens. Maybe those "conservatives" like it that way, and would just as soon lose on the issue.
Just sayin'.
From the Article:
But the problem is that Obamacare is falling apart from its own inconsistencies, his backers in Congress fear voters’ revenge in the midterms, and his plans have been fought by Republicans in the House and in 30 state houses, elected to stop him in 2010. The problem with the intellectuals’ anti-middle-class plans is that the middle class votes when its interests are threatened, a detail that they somehow neglected to master. And that they are finding out now.
I believe that the ‘intellectuals’, his backers in Congress as well as the Obama ‘regime’ already have a ‘solution’ in the works for this problem.
You can’t have elections if the country is in revolt and under martial-law. Well you can’t if you have declared the constitution null and void that is.
And that is the direction I think they are pushing the country in.

Rather than 'just' a common Chicago thug?
Creepier by far.
Nice to see 'intellectuals' in quotes... not to smart to tick off an army of voters...
The Ukrainians man the barricades while Americans lazily answer pollsters telephone calls. Revolution is in the air.
