A police officer shot dead his wife, two children and mother-in-law before turning the gun on himself, authorities said today.
The bodies of Joshua Boren, 34, Kelly Boren, 32, Joshua Boren, 7, five-year-old Haley Boren and Marie King, 55, were discovered in a gruesome scene at their home in Spanish Fork, Utah on Thursday.
Police said the five were found dead about 11pm when co-workers became concerned that Boren didn't show up for his night shift as a patrol officer at the Lindon Police Department.

“I dont buy into all this hatred. But Im in the minority here.”
I’m with you. The same hate filled jokes and stories—over and over and over.
That’s the advantage of being in a free country,I guess.
Some can state their opinions and I can do my best to ignore them.
.
Sad.
Fine line between mental illness and demonic possession, I suppose.
Prayers up.
To some it does. I am not one of them, but they are in abundance here. Their identifying characteristics are: If you do not praise everything a cop does such as beating the hell out of homeless people. 2. Shooting children in the back without any or very little warning. 3. Abusing their power and authority. 4. If you see anything wrong with them lying[ in court or otherwise]. The list could go on , but you get the drift. But in general, if you do not agree that everything the cop does is o.k. and whoever they do it do deserves what they get/got, then you are a cop hater.
Hmmm...’roid rage?
All the more reason to periodically test cops for them, as a condition of employment, along with other drugs they shouldn't be taking. If other occupations have to put up with drug testing, then people with guns, badges, and authority certainly do.
Tell him yourself.
YOU are the one saying this about HIS website, not me. If you said SOME FReepers, or named them, then this wouldn't be about JimRob, but no, you accuse the ENTIRE site!
But once again, for the record here, stories about government agents misusing their authority, especially when that authority gives them license to kill, isn't wrong or just hate.
Maybe I'm a cop-lover, who just happens to hold them to a very high standard, out of honor for the profession?
This is a “cop hating website” if:
Demanding that Police Officers and the institutions they serve strictly adhere to the spirit and letter of the 4th Amendment makes a person a “cop hater”.
Demanding that Police Officers and the institutions they serve strictly adhere to the spirit and letter of the 5th Amendment makes a person a “cop hater”.
Believing that Police Officers should soberly and carefully carry out their duties in an honest and respectful manner makes a person a “cop hater”.
Believing that Police Officers should use deadly force as a last resort and be held personally accountable for their actions makes a person a “cop hater”.
Believing that search warrants should only be written after a very high level of probable cause is demonstrated, and holding the Police Officer who asks for the warrant and the Judge who issues the warrant personally and criminally accountable for misdeeds makes a person a “cop hater’.
Believing that the 2nd Amendment is a Natural Right not to be imposed on by Police Unions makes a person a “cop hater”.
Believing that Police Officers should be held civilly and criminally responsible for their actions in the line of duty makes a person a “cop hater”.
Should I stop here or continue with the next 10 bullet points I can write? Ok I will stop. But you get the idea.
I’ve been quite taken aback by what I’ve seen in this regard over the last few days.
I always saw some bit of anti-cop, and it’s probably a good idea to take “the authorities” with a large grain of salt. But I’ve never seen this level of vitriol before.
Cops didn’t change. Technology changed. Technology rolled back the veil of lies and cover up that made abuse, deception, and thuggery unofficially condoned.
Increasing instances of abuse stories, indicating a lower quality in the type of person who becomes a cop these days.
“Just pointing out the facts. And anyone who spends any time here sees the preponderance of negative cop threads and the majority of cops are scum remark”
Here’s an idea. Why don’t you take the initiative and post some “Good Cop” stories?
I mean, really? This guy(cop)kills his wife and kids. And you’re wondering why there would be negative comments on the guy?
Right. It is almost as though the stories write themselves. Well almost. The stories of Police offical abuse just never end. They never end because Police abuse is everywhere and the prevailing attitude of Law Enforcement institutions is heavy handed “us versus them”, and the famous or infamous Blue Line of Silence.
You're welcome. Cry baby.
The P.R. problem of Law Enforcement has been created by Law Enforcement institutions, training standards and expectations. Only Law Enforcement can fix the P.R. disaster they have created form themselves.
However it can’t be fixed just with talking points. If you remember Ford and the “Quality is Job One” campaign of the 80’s you will remember that this P.R. campaign was accompanied by a great leap in quality of the Ford products. So sloganeering is not enough. Actions must follow the slogans.
The first step in fixing a problem is realizing there is one, and then wanting to fix it. Not easy to do in this era of political posturing and trying to limit joint and several liability. This applies to The Church, the education system, law enforcement, the Obama administration, the list goes on.
Actually seems to be getting worse.
I would add personal experiences with the police.
Free Republic is a cop hating website.

This POS “hero” will have a parade of his “brothers” in uniform with black sashes over their badges for his funeral... however none of them will show up for his victims.
I don’t hate all cops ,, I have many in my extended family ... I KNOW COPS... and they do not deserve respect for simply taking a well paid government job.
Because those who respect and value law enforcement hold them to a higher standard. Behavior like this should come as a shock, especially when we give these people the license to kill.
Something in the air or water like the Crazies?
