Speaking of, can any Jack Daniels drinkers tell me when, and why, it switched to 80 proof?
All Brown-Forman brands are still American-owned. This includes Jack Daniels, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester and Early Times.

I heard from a rather reliable person that Secretariat’s enlarged heart (the purported source of his competitive advantage over other horses) was the result of a recessive gene he inherited from his mother. So the interesting thing is, even if Secretariat was still alive to breed, he could not pass the gene on.
They are going to rename it Jim Jap Beam.
wow
i used to know a Beam heir from Bardstown
These things were unknown in 1973?................
that was funny
Jack Daniels. Same as it ever was.
Mine was standard issue Jim Beam over (standard issue) ice cubes - that marriage ended bady (for me) many years ago.
to try to get women and hipsters to drink it
David Allen Coe is still crying..
Great response if slightly in error. Secretariat was sired by Bold Ruler out of Somethingroyal, by Princequillo. He was foaled at The Meadow in Caroline County, Virginia. It’s now the site of the Virginia State Fair. There used to be a sign there that claimed to be the birth place of Secretariat.
Leave out the black pepper corns, fennel, and cardamom and it sounds very nice! My son makes an applejack with honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, peel of an orange, half peel of a lime, two vanilla beans split, apple cider, apple juice, and Everclear. I still have four jars sealed in my liquor closet. [He makes a crockpot full so I jar it and store it when the lid ‘pops’. Leave out the cinnamon stick when jarring it.
I can't say any more, genetics and animal husbandry are not my areas of expertise.
That was just the first recipe I found on the internet. If you want some really good ones, I simply have to ask around.
No thanks, I don’t drink enough alcohol a year to have recipes anymore. The mixes I have committed to memory are more than enough for the rest of my life.
No, she was a thoroughbred though.
