The Supreme Court on Monday blocked Arizona from enforcing a ban on most abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, in the latest blow for states that have tried to enact strict abortion laws.
The high court declined to hear an appeal from Arizona, leaving in place a prior ruling from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that determined the law was unconstitutional. The Supreme Court decision effectively strikes down the law.

So what if AZ simply ignores SCOTUS?
They won’t, but it might be interesting to look into the details of the law.
In Texas, the law that has stirred up so much emotion contains a loophole in its wording saying that if someone feels burdened by the law it doesn’t apply to them.
A poster told me that 20-week TX law would withstand court muster.
No doubt it would because the abortion law there was a symbolic act from business as usual Republican politicians reacted to by business as usual Democrat politicians like Wendy Davis with a lot of drama..
TX seems to me to be the Republican-party of the states: all talk and posing, no real, effective action.
Sad to see them embrace so fully The Tao of Republican Orthodoxy.
I have said that 95 percent of the Republicans we elect either fake conservatism or repudiate it like Peter King and John McCain.
Complicit murderers.
Exactly. If states can have their local versions of the Second Amendment, why not gradations of "rights" like abortion that aren't really rights?
I equate many to Trojan Horses sent to undermine our republic.
And the liberals worry about convicted murderers who complain about feeling burned.
As well they should. As well most should.
Gingrich was right. An outright elimination of the 9th circuit is in order.
Yes, exactly the way Obama and Holder ignore SCOTUS. Precedent and all that.
There’s a special place in Hell reserved for those ba$tards.
Texas restrictions on abortions and funding, in both the last two legislatures, directly led to the closing of the abortion mill here in Bryan, TX.
If that’s what counts as going through the motions, I’ll take it.
Texas law properly regulates the medical side of abortion. There is no imagined “right to privacy” when it comes to commerce.
There is no conscience anymore in our court system. The Libs have a stranglehold for the foreseeable future. The total irony is that Big Media and the Libs have convinced the sheeple they they are the caring, compassionate ones. Ridiculous!
Did that grining bastard and protege of Bush II vote against the ban here?
It's another victory for abortionists.
Did life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness go out with Roe vs. Wade?
It seems like it.
The Ninth Circuit Court again.....continue the appeal process.
First thing the GOP should do if they win in 2016 and have the Senate is to appoint additional judges to the bench to offset these idiots.
