I always wondered where that “420” designation came from. According to this article it’s origins are “murky”. How fitting?

I find it interesting that before pot was legalized, there was not shortage. Once legalized and with government assistance, there is a shortage. Hmmmmmm.

While travelling down Penny Lane during a tour of Liverpool the guide told us that so many of the signs had been stolen that the city decided to paint the street name on a couple of brick walls.

Dumb.
419A would have been better, and would have made more sense to motorists and map planners.

Back in olden times, New Jersey had to rename its Route 69 because people kept stealing the signs. It is now Route 31.

There was a state road sign on the campus of the University of Georgia I really wanted to steal. It said “DAED END”.
I resisted the urge to sin. But I’ve always kinda wished I’d taken it. Especially since they replaced it after I mentioned it in the local paper.

Used the visit friends in the Haight district in SF. The Haight and Ashbury signs were always gone. Finally they painted the street names on the second floor of the buildings.

There is a small town named Disco near me. During that era they lost a lot of signs.
