The e-mail sent by Christie aide Bridget Kelly to the Port Authority executive behind the lane closures was dated August 13th, 2013, the order to unleash hell on Fort Lee. And Maddow believed Christie very convincingly quashed the idea that this was because of a refusal to endorse, but connected the dots to suggest another motivation.
In 2010, Christie took the unprecedented step of refusing to reappoint a New Jersey Supreme Court justice for another term, which set off the New Jersey Democrats, who got back at Christie by shooting down all the other Supreme Court justice nominees he put forward.
So when a Republican member of the New Jersey Supreme Court came up for reappointment last year, NJ Senate Democrats promised to make it a brutal fight, so Christie decided to stop the reappointment. He was furious at Senate Democrats, and held a press conference getting really angry with them.
That press conference, expressing much anger with Senate Democrats, was held on August 12, 2013, a day before the Bridgegate e-mail was sent. And Fort Lee, the town that got backed up, is part of the legislative district represented by Loretta Weinberg. The leader of the Senate Democrats.

This is a non-issue and strictly a prog media event.
Doesnt even hold a candle to the justifiable outrage over a biased dishonest press...
Outrage over a biased dishonest press is misplaced. Outrage should be addressed at anyone who is thoughtless enough not to realize that the press is a monopoly, and that its interests are backed by the Democratic Party, which obtains unremittingly favorable PR in return.
Unfettered abuse of power delaying tens of thousands of people and disrupting commerce in the area is a “non-issue”?
Not saying that Christie knew anything or that there aren’t more serious issues, but this is an example of how out of control our government has become.
Pissed off at the Fort Lee Democrats? Go ahead and mess with everyone in the city just because you can - they are just peons anyway.
Those responsible need to go to jail for a term equal to the number of hours lost - maybe 10,000 people losing 1 hour per day for four days = 4.5 years.
Christie already fails on your last criterion.
“the lady obviously knows how to fight a war”
LOL! True! True! I think this whole thing is hysterical, how clever she was!
OK, if Christie was involved he needs to be held into account.
But where’s the perspective and the sense of proportion from our media?
Let’s put it this way.... The Mainstream Media is hyperventilating over a traffic jam?
If only they were as concerned about the gridlock in the halls of Congress in Washington, D.C. as they are about the gridlock on the George Washington Bridge.
To my knowledge, no one has been fired for the hundreds of deaths in Fast & Furious, the 4 deaths in the Benghazi terrorist attack, the IRS scandal, the NSA scandal or the ObamaCare debacle. No one.
But by golly, the Mainstream Media and Democrats are getting their pound of flesh over bumper-to-bumper traffic over the Hudson River.
None of us on this site wanted to see Christie as president. That's done now. He's a big dead fish on the national stage. Whether he knew what these dickheads were up to or not, it's over. Good.
But the hypocritical leftists are nowhere near happy. They are going to try to milk this for all its worth. They don't distinguish between conservatives and GOPe or RINOs or all this infighting. Those conservatives piling on Christie now are adding fuel to the fire that is going to be used by the leftists to clobber all Republicans, conservative or not, in the coming elections.
The Democrats are traditionally the party of big government jerkwads screwing the little people - the commuters, the people going to work every day, the taxpayers. But they are going to use this incident to turn the tables, as they always do, with the help of the leftwing media, like Rachel Maddow. And people around here are eager to nod their heads in agreement.
If information comes out that Christie knew about this, I'd support not only removal but prosecution. But for now, I'm taking him at his word. He's a big government clown, but he has no history as a liar.
The move for conservatives at this point is to use this incident to highlight the media disparity in coverage of scandals. One conservative website pointed out that in the first 24 hours, this stupid bridge story received 17 times the national network news coverage that the IRS story has over the last six months! One story is about the executive branch politicizing one of the most powerful arms of government and using it as a weapon to advance their political party and aims, while the other story is about closing two lanes on a bridge at rush hour.
I don't expect the liberal media to maintain any perspective, but it would be nice if the people on this website would.
‘Time for a little traffic jam’ = Screw the people.
Screw her right back. 5 years, no less.
To be more fair, it was 2 of 12 or so lanes on the bridge. Both were of the three (on the right) coming out of the town of Fort Lee, rather than from the major highways that feed the vast majority of bridge traffic.
Christie brought this on himself.
I have a better theory than the tongue and groovy one...this whole sham is an attempt to get more support behind Christy from Republicans defending him.
Just like SequesterGate, FastFuriousGate, IRSgate and all the other rotten fish smelling crap that the Maddow types like.
So you’re saying traffic was stopped just enough to...”wet his beak”?
But that was not my point anyway. My point is that conservatives, by joining in the already insanely exaggerated response to this, are stoking the fire that will burn all Republican or Tea Party candidates in the future. They are trying to solidify the idea that Republicans will screw the people and only liberal Democrats can save them.
We are validating their over reaction and retroactively approving their non-reaction to the far bigger scandals on their side of the aisle.
I don't give a crap about Christie's fatass, but I don't think we should be gleefully endorsing their worldview to our own long term detriment.
I still say the cause was a spontaneous demonstration caused by muslims angry over a Youtube video
If someone commits robbery, the police don't say we can't investigate the crime because someone committed murder and that's far more important.
Someone doesn't take the 5th because there isn't anything to investigate. Christie should have found out what was going on at the very least. Instead he kept making fun of the scandal. This has been going on for months now. He could have already found out what was going on at the bridge and what were the details of the so called traffic study. Instead he claims ignorance and he says he didn't ask Bridget why she lied because he wasn't interested by the time he fired her.
Is that you Hillary?
A clock is correct twice a day. This sounds plausible.
What should bug people about this, is revenge was taken on the voters for actions done by their elected officials, and that’s not right. It’s like when Obastard refused to designate Red State areas as federal disaster areas for a flood a few years ago, while green-lighting the designation for Blue States on the other side of the river. That pi$$ed us off then, and this should draw the same reaction now.
It’s one thing to let idiots suffer who vote retards into office (I’m looking at YOU, California), and it’s another to take revenge on those voters by taking a hand by actively making bad things happen.
It’s that kind of wrong.
Cost the area IMO 30-50 million for him come here and get 1 million to the DNC or himself in donations. Seems wrong IMO, and how many times across the nation has Obama’s activities that tied up traffic killed people who could not get to a loved one or a hospital on time?
Also, look at all the on purpose damage of closings Obama did when he closed the government to punish people.
