Despite 65MPH being popular among many motorists and the trucking industry, the proposal to lower speed limits along major highways in NY may move in the legislature because of ardent support from Gov. Andrew Cuomo and key members of the State Senate.

Lower speed limits = more speeding tickets = more revenue to the nanny state. After all, what's really, really important?

Undoubtedly, a law that will impact the plebeians, not Cuomo.

If you can't frack for oil and gas in New York, then you'll have to drive 35 mph and limit your thermostats to 60°F in winter until you elect a sane government.

Bingo! We have a winner.
If anyone thinks Cuomo gives a $hit about anyone other than himself, they're delusional.

Is this about his driving daughter again, like the SUVs that are high enough to look into a passenger car to see if the driver is texting ?

65 MPH speed limit on the beltway around Houston and you will get run over if you adhere to it.

Well, the government beast must be either killed or fed. In this case feeding it includes getting more speeding fines.

Illinois raised its rural Interstate speed limit to 70 miles per hour on Wednesday, a move that Wisconsin isn't expected to adopt anytime soon.
With Illinois raising its Interstate speed limit to 70 mph, Wisconsin will become an island of sorts: Neighboring Minnesota, Michigan and Iowa already have speed limits of 70 mph for cars on rural Interstates. "

Should stage a slowdown protest, nothing like everyone only driving 35 mph on every road in New York with the new speed limit...

Also, not enough people taking trains. Have to lower speed limits to around 40-45 to make the trains competitive.

Illinois raised its rural Interstate speed limit to 70 miles per hour ...And Texas raised some of its highways to 85 MPH but then, our gov doesn't need the extra revenue.
