Jan. 6, 2014 (LiveActionNews.org) - The Race for the Cure has hit a wall. Breast Cancer giant Susan G. Komen for the Cure has been embroiled in funding controversies, and a new report shows that its revenue is plummeting, not only for its once-popular race, but also for its organization at large.
Reports show that Komen experienced a 22% drop in donations in the year after the controversy over its grants to Planned Parenthood. Reports also showed that fewer people took part in its fundraising Races for the Cure across the country. The organization announced last summer that it would cancel half of its three-day charity walks for this year because of a drop in participation.

For every report like this news that they support Planned Barrenhood, more people will wise up.
Well, we can all work to help make it a continuous trend.
well, if they ever find a cure, then revenue would drop to zero, so 22 doesn’t look so bad. of course, ms komen would have to find a real job.
My wife is a breast cancer survivor and former Komen supporter, who founds other groups to support as the result of Komen’s Planned Parenthood affiliation.
So, you dontate to fight breast cnacer and then find out your donations are going for abortions...
Why are they surprised by this?
Reading the article the people running SGK think the drop is from abortion supporters mad at SGK’s momentary lack of support for the abortion industry.
Most women that are for abortion are the ones you would ‘nt want to do anyways
Save the Ta Tas but kill babies... may she burn in hell.
I volunteer in the American Cancer Society Cancer Resource Center in a local hospital. ACS use to partner with Komen. ACS no longer does. Don’t know who broke off the relationship.
However, Komen use to provide us with “gas cards” to give to local women fighting breast cancer. They can no longer afford it. This is a big loss to the ACS CRC patients/clients.
The Breast Cancer Prevention Institute
They are made of medical professionals (doctors), but also other professionals who are very knowledgeable about the anatomy of the breast, hormones (Joel Brind, PhD in Biology), and breast cancer.
They even have some professionals who focus is on breast feeding...
But the key players in this group are breast cancer surgeons -- doctors who have to deal with breast cancer in their patients...
Should the money be going to gas cards? I thought this was a fight for the cure. All money should be going for research or in my opinion the donations are being collected fraudulently. Gas cards, that is our concern?
BTW, doesn’t the government provide free transportation for medical appointments to a lot of these people already? I see an awful lot of “EMT Transportation” vans in my area and I live in a nice area.
The CEO is the sister of Susan Komen.
Thanks. That seems to ring a bell—I suspect she’s already aware of them.
I am a proponent of people self-sacrificially helping those in need, Not government helping people.
The women who receive the gas cards are in need of that sort of assistance - there are various qualifiers. They also receive free wigs, free wig stands, shampoo, etc. Items that other nonprofits, businesses and individuals donate.
Learn about the organization you’re giving money to - see what they put the donations toward. If you don’t like it, don’t donate to them. Donate elsewhere. There are plenty of nonprofits and foundations to choose from.
I will add, nothing impacts a cancer patient more that having someone VOLUNTEER to guide them, listen to them, direct them to resources, while THE CURE is being researched.
Is there a connection between having an abortion and being more likely to get breast cancer? If that’s been established, supporting “planned parenthood” (pre-separation murder) is just plain wrong.
Glad to hear and would like to see them defunded.
I agree, I support people giving to these women who are in need with wigs, etc. I’m offended that they are trying to squeeze the churches out of charity and replace it with government handouts. My main beef is that Koman is misrepresenting their donation requests.
Find a cure. I’ve had a sister die from breast cancer and another who has it. This is not a something I’m unfamiliar with and I don’t think I don’t sympathize with what these women and families are going through, I’ve been there. My point is it urgent for a cure.
Giving gas cards, mammograms, etc. are easy things for the money to go to. Do the difficult thing because lives are in the balance.
