Oh give me an effin’ break. Winter temps in ND were like this and even colder back when I was a kid.
I lived in Evanston, IL 1983-85. I think in the winter on 83-84, a record was set where the temperature did not go above 0 for 30 days. The coldest it got during that time was -27, and with the wind chill factor, it was -77. Classes were not cancelled.
In Missouri we were -15 for two weeks straight during that same time period.
I just saw where my alma mater, Appalachian State, was closing tomorrow because it is cold.
Seriously? They made me walk across campus to class in those same temps.
Yep, the current temps are within the normal extremes that have been recorded in the past.
At least the ciminals will not be going out to commit crimes in Chicagoland.
We are in the Polar Goretex up here in Michigan!
I am claiming credit for the term. I hope it goes viral!
Yes but Chicagoans think they are so important the rest of us should care about their weather. Same way we get thousands of hours of coverage of east coast winter weather. Hey CNN, here is a news flash, I don’t care if New Yorkers are cold.
So? It isnt a pissing contest.
It’s too bad that the adults at that time didnt give a toss about the students, and thought that -77 Wind chill was completely safe for students to go walk around in.
Being stupid in Evanston =/= Let’s do this everywhere.

Drudge said ‘Chicago smashes records.’
At the time it was by a whole degree. Later it got another degree colder. Smashes?
Also, to the MSM, there are only 3 cities in the winter: New York, Boston, and Chicago.
Any snow or cold in those places is amazing and, shall I say, smashing! Meanwhile, the rest of the snowier and colder country carries on.
Well it is summer at the South Pole.
Looking out over the lake here where I live and it looks like an aerial view of the Sahara desert or something with dunes made of snow. Very cool in a cold sort of way.
Yep!
barefoot.
And now, in some hospital in the Windy City area, a child is being born who unfortunately will be given that moniker ....
