MSNBC Associates Duck Dynasty Gun Line with Mass Shootings
Breitbart's Big Journalism ^ | January 4, 2014 | AWR Hawkins

When MSNBC's Thomas Roberts announced the new line of Duck Commander guns on January 3rd, he was joined by Len Everett of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. Everett claimed Phil Robertson, of Duck Dynasty fame, made his controversial comments to sell guns to conservative, middle-aged, white males and criticized the Robertson family for selling the kinds of guns used in mass shootings.

Roberts used leading questions to guide Everett in making these points throughout the segment.

For example, Roberts introduced Everett by pointing out that the new line of guns includes a "semi-automatic pistol" and "two semi-automatic rifles." Moreover, "the pistol and one of the rifles have military style designs with large capacity magazines holding at least 25 rounds."

This allowed Everett to respond in disbelief that Mossberg firearms would partner with a family like the Robertsons to make guns, especially guns with "high capacity" magazines.

Everett pointed out the common elements in "mass shootings" are "the semi-automatics"(continued)

At the very least, I would think that someone ought to investigate the potential links, but I don’t suppose the pharmaceutical companies are all that eager to fund that kind of study...

It truly was a different time. My grandfather grew up in rural Kansas in the 30's. I have a picture of him in one of his elementary school classrooms. Nice photo of all the kids, all of them dressed nicely (even though they had no money), and there is a gun rack in the corner of the classroom. All of the boys carried their .22 to school so they could hunt while walking to/from school. Nobody ever thought that having a gun in the classroom was dangerous. My grandfather told me if you had an issue with someone, you settled it on the way home with fists - nobody ever thought of picking up a gun. How times have changed.....

Similar point was discussed in “The Not So Wild West” by Terry Anderson. The actual murders were no worse west of the Mississippi in the frontier towns and cities than the were in the Eastern United States, some cities had for a time slightly worse rates, such as NYC with it’s rising gang activity. If you haven’t read it, it’s worth a read, especially considering much of the people in the Old West had visible firearms on their person.

Good one vet, in fact, didn’t we fight the British despite them having the actual Naval Power both in the American Revolution and the War of 1812? Didn’t the British possess more of that heavy artillery? I thought so, but I think Afghanistan is a better example. The Taliban has IEDs and old Russian AK Rifles, but they still have a will to fight despite being the targets of U.S. Superior Firepower for 12 years. If the Taliban can hurt by attrition, so, possibly, could some American determined fighters.

Many of their weapons were hand-built by little boys in caves and in shanties in Pakistan. I watched a video several years ago on the subject.

My friend, The AK Rifle series is a black market gun of choice the world over, not just Afghanistan, but worldwide, we even had the shooters in North Hollywood assemble fully functional AKs in their own home by simply acquiring black market parts and ammo. AKs are cheap, and well designed, and somewhat easy to assemble, and people can get the separate parts and put them together.
