[T]he BSA, which is based in Irving, announced last week that it is raising annual membership dues from $15 to $24 per Scout a 60 percent increase beginning Jan. 1, 2014.
Chief Scout Executive Wayne Brock . . . and BSA staff did not mention how much revenue might be lost from the defection of conservative families that leave the organization because of recent membership changes that allow [homosexual] youth to be Scouts.
. . .
The BSA once boasted of five million members back in the 1950s when the United States population was about half of what it is today. BSA now claims 2.2 million members. And it will be interesting to see whether headquarters will openly acknowledge how many members remain after annual registration for 2014.

My disgust at the cowardice of the BSA exec council knows no bounds.
The 7th edition ('65) Handbook sitting over there on the shelf serves a sad reminder of the heydays of a truly fine organization.
>>My son will stay a scout. Hes a better person for it. They all are.<<
I assume you also allow your daughter(s) to go on trips with boys they will sleep and shower with?
The new Rump Rangers (previously the BSA) are the same thing.
So far there’s nothing about allowing “gay” Scoutmasters.
In a sense, I see a possible opportunity here, however. It’s just such a strongly masculine environment as the Scouts at least had been, that would probably help a limp-wrister Scout learn some manhood. If he was really willing to learn and not be stubborn and force his weakness on everyone else to accommodate. This might end up helping some “gays” in a manner they didn’t anticipate.
I was a scout and my sons were scouts but no longer will our family have anything to do with them. That is a fact of life.
Uh, huh.
I suspect that the liability insurance was increased when they admitted openly homosexuals into their ranks. Lawsuits by parents of molested boys are very expensive.
Will your grandchildren (or sons, sorry) be joining the new organization?
Sorry misread that as ....anal membership fee...........
I know that.
It appears most posters think the complete collapse of the BSA is a foregone conclusion in the immediate or near future. It isn't. The end is going to be nasty and prolonged, because units control the selection of their leaders.
As a national organization, the Girl Scouts of America went over to the dark side two decades ago, yet there are still exceptional local units because of dedicated, conservative Girl Scout leaders.
The BSA program is still excellent and can continue to provide an excellent program to young men if administered by strong conservative leaders on the local level.
I can vouch for the truth of that.
You are welcome, America!
My son showers in locker rooms at school. I presume some of the kids are gay in his school. Should I yank him out and home school?
He also showers at the gym. Should I encourage him to stay home and play video games instead?
THIS ISN’T A GAME. This is a war we’re participating in. I’ve seen Progressives, using the divide and conquer strategy, separate different denominations of the churches with this strategy for years while Christians played along and right into their hands.
I’m not playing. I’m fighting. You’re free to do what you will.
I understand where you are coming from. But please understand: there are no gay children. Poor modern children - who have sexual problems - are being forced at a very young age to “choose” their sexuality. And that form is always gay, gay, gay. Sexuality is so much more complicated than we know. To force children into a biological freak show is not only immoral, I believe it is anti-scientific. Eventually, we will pay for this on a very big scale.
From what I understand about the new organization, probably so. The oldest just turned 6 and his brother is 3.
I agree. The BSA pros estimated back in APR2013 that their worst case scenario would see a loss of 13% of the 2013 membership level.
...How does it affect my units? We can control access to our Scouts when we camp alone, but District or Council overnight events are now out of our control - and out of our scheduled program.
So that means no district/council camporees, no distirct merit badge days, what about your district EBoR?, no council summer camp, no national jamboree, no world jamboree, and worst for you, no Philmont/Northern Tier/FL Sea Base/Summit. I include the High Adventure bases because even though you will oversee your crews on the trail, they will come into contact with other crews, base-camp staff and out-back staff. When I trekked Philmont in 1990, I had a conversation with a college-aged staffer who told me about 2 staffers who were dismissed after being caught in the act. First time I heard the term "packing fudge."
Looks like the homosexual bullies of the gay mafia are going to have to start playing whack-a-mole with straight youth organizations.
Since they gave in to the gay lobby, I hope they go bankrupt.
