"We know that being gay is not a choice someone makes, and that to suggest otherwise can be incredibly harmful."

Is HRC saying being gay is a birth defect?

The hrc.org made the statement in response to Phil Robertson’s GQ statmenet about homosexuality.

My totallly anecdotal guess would say “yes” (in most cases), but just because same-sex attraction disorder may be a defect in brain “wiring”, amongst other things, doesn’t mean it’s normal, anymore than anyone with cystic fibrosis or color blindness is normal.

Ok, if it isn’t a choice then it is a mutation in the species. And mutations are not good for the species. So yes, it is a defect.

If you don’t think it’s a choice just take a look at Miley’s latest doings. She’s smooching up on girls for attention. Just like Brittney and Katey. It is the “fashionable and hip” thing to do right now.

I think there are some peopel that might choose to “experiment” out of choice, but I’ve seen too many people who anyone who wasn’t from outer space would immediately peg as homosexual (of the “gay” or lesbian variety) and would turn out that was the correct guess. Mannerisms, speech, even body build. And there are too many people who knew they were “different” even at an early age, long before puberty. If it’s not a gene or genes, then it’s something that happens in utero.

An example of deliberate semantic obfuscation by the homosexual lobby. No one can even define "being gay" except in terms of cognitive and behavioral processes. Cognitive and behavioral processes are by and large amenable to volitional control.

It is akin to saying "alcoholism" is not a choice, but no one seriously denies that drinking alcohol is a choice.

The agenda is a misogynistic attack equating the vulva to the anus. The 3rd world hates women.

I always love posing this question to homo supporters:

If homosexuality is genetic and gene therapy could “cure” it, would you support the use of that gene therapy?

Exactly. The "attraction" may be ingrained and immutable, but what you do with the attraction is your own choice.

They are pushing for it being exactly as you say, a birth defect, so that gays can be included in the Americans with Disabilities Act, just as if they were blind, deaf, mobility impaired or having some sort of mental illness.

The fact is, nobody really knows what causes homosexuality, or bisexual inclinations, or any of that. We just don’t know. Those who claim it’s not a choice are pushing a liberal social/political agenda. They don’t know any more than you or I do.

Ever wonder how it is that prominent gays such as Billie Jean King or Elton John once were married to opposite sex spouses? The liberals claims that society oppresses homosexuality so much, that they married someone of the opposite sex, due to intense societal pressure to deny your gay side.

I never understood how we got from being tolerant of gays, to now reach a point at which it is actually cool to be gay in some circles.

If it - “gay” - were genetic, then studies of identical twins (100% same genes) would show a greater proportion of “gays” among idnentical twins than the proportion of “gays” in the general population. But studies of identical twins do not show that when when “gays” are found among identical twins that both of the individuals are found to be “gay” in any greater proportion than found in the population in general. For a genetic factor to be a dominant factor science would expect that if one individual in a set of identical twins was “gay” that the other one would most likely be “gay” also. But, in fact that circumstance is not greater than in the population in general. So, is there a “gay gene” from birth? Science says not.

That would be a blessing in disguise. By classifying same sex attraction disorder as a birth defect, how could “gay” advocates seriously say in the same breath that it was at the same time normal?

‘So, is there a “gay gene” from birth? Science says not.’

Probably more like an in utero accident, then. There isn’t a cerebreal palsy gene, after all.

Is being a psychopath or kleptomaniac or schizophrenic a choice?

Mental illness is just that, an illness with strong negative aspects. Most definitely not something to be "celebrated".
