Maybe he should try to bring some religious freedom back to the military while he is at it.
There, fixed it.
Here is a thought: how about remove any “tax exempt status” and let people and organizations decide for themselves what they want. This is all about the $$$ when you let IRS dictate what you believe in.
The battle between good and evil continues. May Mr. Lee fight on the side of good.
You'd think he was a conservative.
Irrelevant. Our judicial overlords will require it.
Who would have ever thought that refusing to violate the tenants of your faith would be grounds for punishment by the government?
Homosexuality is part of Obama’s religion, and the pop religion that leftist government embraces, so when government tells Christian churches to perform marriages for dykes and fairies, it crosses the church and state line, which trumps the gay and straight line. Let government officials perform marriages for queers, so that the perverted couples might have all the holy blessings the bureaucratic gods can impart, and leave decent people alone.
But God made them male and female so that they could multiply and fill the earth!
I feel that if a law needs to be involved at all, and government is involved, whether for the affirmative or negative, the battle is already lost, and the secularists have won - because we are saying that government shall set the bounds of religious behavior.
We need a bill for this?
I will not attend any church that performs same-sex marriages. It tells me they are not Biblically oriented.
Mike Lee, like Ted Cruz, is a treasure, a blessing to Americans.
All well and good that “churches shouldn’t be forced to perform gay marriages”.
HOWEVER! A lot of churches have that little nasty IRS document labeling that church to be in accordance with 503-C tax status. The IRS started shutting churches down a few years ago, if you remember, for podium speakers outcrying the ills of the government, during their sermons.
My question is this: “If you believe enough that Providence is the head of your church, why are you petitioning for governmental legitimacy through application for IRS 503-C approved status?”
Wouldn’t you think that if Providence so ordained you to obey the call, and do the work, that you would ‘be covered’, 503-C or not?”
Since God doesn’t approve of homosexuality, much less this perversion of His institution of marriage, why in the world do homosexuals want to come to the church? Unless, of course, it’s to stick it to Christians who actually believe God’s Word as written in the Bible.
Pastors and Churches have always had the right to determine whom they will marry.
For example, the couple needs to have been baptized or no marriage by that Pastor or at that church.
The government never started making laws saying Pastor or church must marry non-baptized people.
There are myriad examples of similar situations.
This is an example of the special superior status afforded one sub-set of society.
Most of these guys know they just need to judge to throw it out on “Constitutional” grounds. That way, they can say they supported it, but couldn't do anything about it because of those darned judges.
How many in the GOP were praying to their golden calves that the Supreme Court would have made gay marriage the law of the land? We were bombarded with stories about this from Conservative publications.
I wonder if the Christie worshipers will even let this come to a vote, seeing as how they really don't want gay issues in the news during the GOP Primaries. After all, Christie just sicked the law on Christian Groups in NJ who wanted to minister to homosexuals. Not to mention gay marriage became the law of NJ thanks to him (in part).
Lee is authentic. Most of these guys are putting on a show for election season.
When are these folks going to arrange for a wedding at the local mosque?
