Privately operated airboats, icons of the Gladesmen culture of the Everglades, will be dwindling in number because the Park Service isnt granting any new licenses.

This is another example of government intrusion into local culture and a denial of rights based on environmental activism and extremism. Worse, it's going to cost some lives because the air boaters routinely rescue people lost or involved in accidents. It will reduce the amount of education kids get on the region provided by both schools and parents or friends. Airboats are among the least intrusive vehicles that can penetrate deep into the swamp. Yes, they're loud but so is the thunder that rolls across the region often and so are the aircraft that fly over the region. I grew up out there on airboats. I learned to drive one out there. I feel like a small piece of my soul is being eradicated.

Some of the Park Service rangers that try to enforce this will wind up as gator chow.

Well there goes my planned Gentle Ben reboot movie.
Maybe I can sell the idea to Michael Bay.

It’ll probably come down to that.
I hope no one is delusional enough to think this regulatory burden will ever get better...
Even those politicians who target one industry for “protection” or “repeal of burdensome regulation” invariably want some other industry burdened instead. Regardless of political Party.
The trend, for longer than most of us have been alive, is for the government to grow and freedom to shrink.

Reminds me of the episode of Big Bang, where they had the time machine prop from the original movie. Penny described it as looking like “something Elton John would ride through the everglades”.
To: Dead Corpse
Agreed. I have yet to see a politician of either party who was actually willing to eliminate a Government Department or put even a handful of bureaucrats out of their jobs.

Not to worry. Since the Bay Area has more Red Sox fans than Rays fans...the Duck Boats are coming....

Another reason to elect can conservatives into Congress and the White House.
A federal agency, in this case the Parks Service, is MAKING LAW. They can call it a “rule” or a “determination” or a “regulation”, but it is in essence a LAW.
Congress ALONE has the power to make law, according to Article I, Section 1 of the Constitution: “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.”

This is nothing less than the continuation of the long war on whites and heterosexuals. Whatever those two groups like is fair game for a skirmish. After we’ve lost a thousand skirmishes, game over. At least that seems to be the theory. But I’m kind of hoping it’s game on.

Always wanted to ride an airboat.Do it if you can ... they're a lot of fun. NOT fun to get hit in the face by big flying bugs, though ;-)

One thing I learned by living overseas was that it’s one thing to pass a law or edict, it’s quite another to enforce it or obtain obedience to it.

The Everglades is going to be re-designated by the Fed.gov as: Area 52.
