RIVIERA - A suspected illegal immigrant is dead after being run over by an 18-wheeler just north of Riviera this morning.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the man was being chased by Border Patrol around 1 a.m., when he ran across Highway 77 and was hit by a tractor trailer. The truck hit the man then ran him over.
Meanwhile, there's no word on who the man is or where he is from. Border Patrol is now trying to identify the man.
We're told the driver of the truck won't be ticketed.
U.S. Border Patrol agents had stopped a vehicle heading north on Highway 77 when six people got out and fled. Department of Public Safety troopers said that one of those people was struck by the 18-wheeler while running from the agents on an inside lane of Highway 77.
Two women from Mexico were arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol agents. Three others ran into the brush and escaped.
The man who was struck by the 18-wheeler was taken to Christus Spohn Kleberg, where he died just before 2 a.m. He has not yet been identified, but authorities suspect that he may be an illegal immigrant as well.
No charges have been filed against the driver of the 18-wheeler.

.... Immigrant or Illegal Migrant? Immigrants are here legally and usually behave as such .... not skulking around and hiding like a criminal being chased by border patrol.

Prediction: Border agents will now be told not to chase illegals, lest they run across highway and die.
In all fairness, while they may have indeed been illegal aliens, that is a legal determination, not a state of being, so they should properly be called “Mexican citizens”.
It is important that they be identified as Mexican citizens, because it recalibrates the argument. For example:
“State discusses in-state tuition for illegal aliens”, takes on a very different, and far less sympathetic character if it is rephrased: “State discusses in-state tuition for Mexican citizens.”
It raises the obvious question: “Why is the state even considering paying money to people from another country? It isn’t proper that they are giving taxpayer dollars to citizens of other countries.”
Not all of them are from Mexico
Wonder how many Islamist terrorist have come across from Mexico to set up cells in the US.

Well that’s it. Time to put up a fence to save them from themselves!
However, they will likely try to ban the 18 wheeler and put up cross-ways for them.
Pretty much as many as wanted to.
Out in the interior of the Everglades I encountered two of the Armed & Rangerous. These rangers were wearing Cat. IV vests, carried rifles with selective fire switches, the whole shtick.
I asked them why all the arming up and was told they needed it in case they met illegal aliens coming in from the coast(this talk occurred some ten miles inland).
When asked if they knew the habitats between the coast and where we were talking they admitted they were recent transferees from elsewhere and didn't know the land.
I mentioned that a friend of mine had trained Delta Force trainees in the Everglades and decided it was not suitable except with either helicopter or tacked vehicle support. My suggestion was that if the men who could eat Rambo for breakfast didn't plan on walking through there, that if they ever met aliens who had walked in I suggested the following:
1. Snap to attention and say Welcome to America, SIR!.
2. Tell them “Miami is that way, SIR!
3. Remove the front sight from their rifles.
One asked about the front sight suggestion. I told him it was my considered opinion that anyone who walked through the mangrove belts, the ooze band and the sawgrass prairie might do things to them which would be far less painful if the sight was removed.
Too bad all of America isn't protected as is the Everglades coastline.
PS The Saudi Royal family has been funding Muslim armories all over America. They can be found by Google searching Mosques” in your area.
PPS The Guru sez those Muslims will turnout to have squad level weapons and some squad level training.
Our only hope is they need retraining after every coffee break.
