OTTAWA The Supreme Court of Canada struck down all current restrictions on prostitution on Friday, including bans on brothels and on street solicitation, declaring the laws were unconstitutional because they violated prostitutes' safety.
The sweeping 9-0 decision will take effect in one year, inviting Parliament to try to come up with some other way to regulate the sex trade if it chooses to do so.
Prostitution is technically legal in Canada but most related activities have been illegal, including living off the avails of someone else's prostitution, but the court found that the provisions were overly broad or grossly disproportionate.

The rational by the court makes perfect sense, don’t want to be hypocritical: Make the generic occupation of prostitution legal, as long as its narrow sub-components of politicians and judges are legal.
I’ve never thought prostitution was illegal - a person owns his/her own body and what they do with it is their business as long as it isn’t directly killing another person.
(Which naturally brings us to the question of abortion. That is killing a human being and that is murder.)
They might fall out of bed..................
Desperate people do desperate things. Especially when it comes to staying alive.
Bunch of nuts to the north. How long before they legalize kiddie porn again?
I’d love to see a brothel set up right next door to the judge’s houses with a big red flashing neon sign directing all the johns to it. I mean, we’d want it well-lit to protect the prostitute’s safety.
I see what you did there............
There may be some places on earth, but women have always been more discreet than men, so I would imagine that an equivalent to a 'brothel' (sisterel?) would be quite rare. Thus, the discreet services of 'male escorts' are usually 'house calls'..................

Brothel
Etymology
From the French bordel, ca. 1200 “bordel” sing. “prostitution place”. The French word bordel comes from the Old German word Bord, which means “board”. This word was used to describe the shacks made of boards in which prostitution occurred. The word bord was firstly transformed by the French to borde, then quickly became bordel.
Windsor and Niagara Falls, Canada are going to see explosive growth. These cities are strategically placed on peninsulas that penetrate major US portals of entry.

The ‘legal’ age in Canada is 14. Is that close enough?
Bottom line: she will be flat on her back, buck naked, legs up in the air, wide open, at the mercy of a total stranger. Gee, ain't it just SWELL?
ugh
sickening
Looks like Canada’s tourism industry is gonna get a hump...I mean...bump...in about a year.
Yeah. They have a very liberal gun sales policy...
Not.
If I had to choose between the two, I might outlaw politicians rather than prostitutes.
The prostitute at least gives something in exchange.
Their gun sales policy was probably dictated by their lawyers. They would not want to be in the facilitation chain of command in case someone got murdered with a weapon sold thru their site..............
Sometimes more than you bargained for.......................8^)
Everything bad that happens to the US happens first in Europe and then in Canada. Homosexual “marriage”, rights for terrorists, abortion, restrictions on free speech, Stalinist health care, etc. We’re the canary in the coal mine. Sadly, Americans are more likely to follow the bad Canadian example than to learn from our mistakes.
