Write them back and tell them you need some more information. Include a list of every conceivable type of weapon, from mideval punt guns, crossbows, and trebuchets, up through modern crewed artillery pieces, and ask them which ones specifically qualify as “firearms”.

If asked to report my gun by sending a piece of paper to me, there would be no reason to report mine since it is PINK and anything PINK couldn’t harm anyone.
What no requirement of female teachers to submit obstetric exam reports? What if they want to have sex with an underage boy?
Standard answer to the gun question should be: “Break into my home some night and you’ll find out about my ownership of firearms.”
Would such a list even be secure? Think of CRIMINALS getting load of that list, then they would know which homes to raid, when no one is home, to get guns.
My answer would be...”Break in and find out!” or “none of your business”.
