Sen. Patty Murray said a "technical error" in the bipartisan budget deal accidentally would cut pension benefits for retired disabled military veterans, but vowed the problem will be fixed immediately.
The Washington state Democrat, who brokered the deal with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., took to the Senate floor Wednesday and promised the "unintended inclusion" would be remedied before the chamber votes on the bill and that benefits for disabled military pensioners wouldn't be cut.
"All of us know that our disabled veterans have made tremendous sacrifices for our nation and deserve the peace of mind that their benefits will not be adjusted under this compromise legislation," Murray said on the Senate floor Wednesday.
"The technical error certainly can, should and will be addressed."

All these crooks know exactly what they are doing.
When is immediately?
Allen West was just on Cavuto talking to Stuart Varney. He said Murray is lieing and she knows it. Why put it in the bill and let it pass the senate?
Patty has expert military person telling her all this. She relies on her father to give her his expert military experience and knowledge. Her daddy was in the army for three years and was a PRIVATE FIRST CLASS. Yup. Expert knowledge from a private whose major experience was cleaning latrines and picking up trash on the side of the roads on post. Yup. Expert knowledge.
“technical error”
SHEESH:
“glitch”
we’ll just “fix” it “immediately”
we are “working hard” to “fix” it
for the vast majority
Why all the mealy mouth excuses?!? Isn’t anyone there a grown-up? who READS it before they PASS it?!? who takes RESPONSIBILITY?!?
Is there anyone out here in the Real World who buys into this fake concern for a fake glitch and a fake promise to fix it??
she’s only saying disabled vets...not all vets
Of course we'll have to wait for the fine print to be made public. The "fix" will probably only apply to Civil War veterans.
The argument has been made that many go on to second careers- true Mr. Ryan. But most don't go on to lucrative Defense contract positions and have to be retrained after a long specialty career job. I would ask Mr Ryan to have congressmen live under the same cola restrictions.
Ms. Patty won with 52% last time.
So she’s not nearly as “bulletproof” as DiFi or Boxer.
What about all the Donks who have now gone on record in favor of the cut?
Technical error my @$$! They just didn’t think they would be found out this fast and once again misjudged how much most Americans care for their soldiers!
I have to thank the Senator. Politicians like her are helping me to get over my voting addiction.
Well, that’s the way dems/technocrats think. Arbitrary, life-changing (or ending) decisions=”technical error”, or “collateral damage”.
I wonder how many (former) monolever-pulling (D)’s are seething every time a wonk on TV minimizes “the few people” losing their insurance/paying 3x for less with Obamacare. I will bet, a lot.
Snafu, my left foot. They knew EXACTLY what they were voting on. They're seeing the fit -> shan - everywhere on this - and "fixing it", accordingly. Lying losers.
Pity the poor congresscritter who was on with Laura this morning, trying to defend this “reduction in growth”.

Doesn’t sound like they removed the “snafu”.
Removing veteran’s benefits from the budget was no “technical error”. IMO it was calculated and implemented according to plan, much like the reduction of our military in general. Odumbo does not want an organized military in this country and will do anything and everything he can to destory it along with the moral of those of us who served. I DESPISE THAT BASTARD!
“Well, then why did you mistakenly vote for it you moron?????”
Because he’s a jerk who thinks we will forget about the way he represented us constituents next time around.
Another stoopidazz skurt d’at don’ know nothin’ ‘bout GI’s, and I for true thinks don’ care!
She had to, ahem, “flash” at ‘somebody’ to get them to vote for her!
