Forrest was a KKK member, So was Robert KKK Byrd. So naturally, we can expect Robert C. Byrd High School in West Virginia to be renamed soon...right? /s

Shows they don’t understand what being a Confederate means. But then again neither do most ‘Americans’.

In the words of WFB, this decision is an exercise in triviality.

But let’s be honest about Byrd. He stopped being a KKK member over 60 years ago and apologized for it many times over the years.

Academic performance at all grade levels in Duval County is circling the bowl; the recently-appointed Superintendent of Public Schools is out of depth; highly qualified and effective teachers are either leaving or being driven off; and this is what the Duval County School Board thinks is important to focus on.

Meh!

I can understand why they would rename the school.

On the other hand, the historical man was more interesting than the average newsie will ever be able to explain.

I recall once Rush Limbaugh read a list of stuff in Iraq that was named after Saddam Hussein, followed by a list of stuff in West Virginia that was named after Robert C. Byrd.

The Robert C. Byrd list was three times as long.

Rename it “Nathan Bedford Forrest III High School”. He was a hero who died in World War 2. Who could object to naming after someone like that?

So does anyone know when Tom Hanks is returning his Oscar for portraying Forrest Gump insomuch as the Forrest Gump character was named after Nathan Bedford Forrest?

The shame must be unbearable for him and Robert Zemeckis who also got an Oscar for the same movie. It would go a a long way to show solidarity with the progressive struggle to erase all vestiges of selective history./S (..sounds of crickets chirping...)
