With America clearly in mind, Putin declared, "In many countries today, moral and ethical norms are being reconsidered."
"They're now requiring not only the proper acknowledgment of freedom of conscience, political views and private life, but also the mandatory acknowledgment of the equality of good and evil."
Translation: While privacy and freedom of thought, religion and speech are cherished rights, to equate traditional marriage and same-sex marriage is to equate good with evil.

You are claiming we haven't done enough, but when I ask you for a specific example of what we could do, you cite nothing, and again revert to the Cold War calumny that a sour relationship with Russia is the fault of the West.
Why should we have good relations with a country that is doing everything it can to guarantee that our allies in the Middle East and Far East Asia are threatened by insane dictatorships with nuclear weapons?
When you answer that question, I'll take you seriously, and not before.

The Russians have long supported America's enemies. They get these dopes to do their dirty work for them. Meanwhile, they and the ChiComs patiently sit back and build up their military and wait for the right opportunity to make a move of their own.

I explained what we could do, and I explained why I thought we should be the ones to implement it. I also provided the reasons why I thought it was important.
Why should we have good relations with a country that is doing everything it can to guarantee that our allies in the Middle East and Far East Asia are threatened by insane dictatorships with nuclear weapons?
My post to you made it clear that I think we modify behavior by developing mutually beneficial goals. What does throwing up our hands and giving up on better relations buy us, if not exactly what we're getting now?
When you answer that question, I'll take you seriously, and not before.
And in this instance, not afterwards either.

Well, you never know who anybody is on the Internet.
Is it possible that some of our Putin butt-kissers on FR are FSB? Of course it is. I would even say, in a few cases, likely.
But I don't doubt that most of them are deluded by the "social conservatism" he's espousing, forgetting that the KGB completely co-opted the Orthodox Church in Russia, or that the Soviets made grand noises about "endorsing the noble principles of the Atlantic Charter 100%," the "free determination" for the peoples of Eastern Europe, democracy, economic equality, and of course "anti-imperialism."
NOTHING HAS CHANGED, except that Russia is weaker, and China is stronger than before.

Fred, seriously, if you can’t deduce the answers to the questions you think haven’t been answered, then you’re not capable of conducting an exchange on this subject.
I addressed each of those issues point by point.

revert to the Cold War calumny that a sour relationship with Russia is the fault of the West. Fred, I never said or implied the problems of the Cold War were the fault of the West.
I did not say that problems with Russia today were all the fault of the West.
I stated that we have not done as much as we could have to bring Russia in to the sphere of Western nations seeking to work together instead of against each other.
You're your own worst enemy on these thought lines. You're reading far more negativism into my post than are actually there.
It would be rather humorous, but the angst you're developing is unnecessary. Nowhere have I advocated us throwing caution to the wind to give Russia everything it wants. And yet this is what you're comprehending? Why?

Is it possible that some of our Putin butt-kissers on FR are FSB? Of course it is. What I don't understand is how they're allowed to remain here all these years praising and defending KGB Putin.

OK. He's been here since September 2004.
http://www.freerepublic.com/~comradestrelnikov/ Presumably you think I'm being paranoid. But there are 300,000 subscribers, and it costs nothing to sign up, post a few articles complimenting Comrade Putin, maybe dropping a note on a thread here and there. For very little effort, you never know what dividends it might later pay, eh, Tovarisch?
You do realize the Russian intelligence services snuck messages into all kinds of mass market vehicles between 1917 and the fall of the Soviet Union, no?
[And no, I don't say Pat Buchanan is an asset; he's too stupid to be one.]

Here is the deal. Putin is not a threat to US citizens. Bo is the threat. Recall how this Kenyan maggot sided with Mexico against the citizens of Arizona.
