HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius also said that insurers would be required to provide coverage to individuals who pay for their plans by Dec. 31. Previously, insurance companies could have set an earlier deadline for payment.
At the same time, the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Program — which was supposed to expire at the end of this year — will continue through the end of January. Administration officials said the roughly 85,000 people in the program, generally more high-risk patients, needed more time to compare various Obamacare plans.

I’m so glad that my wife and a SIL are no longer on the front line as good RNs.
The first workday in January, a millions of people will assume that they are covered and will be surprised, when they are told that they are not covered by any plan.
Then millions of previously uncovered ones will show up that same day demanding the best medical care they can get without paying anything.
If I was a front line MD, I would seriously consider a month of vacation starting 1 Jan 2014. Then, I would forward all calls to the outhouse, Pellosi and Reid.
