Almost all crabmeat comes from Indonesia. Even Phillips.
We have pretty much destroyed the crab population in the Chesapeake Bay. Last year was the worst crabbing season in my memory. Crabs were selling for $150 to $200 dollars a bushel.
Trot lines were useless and even the pots weren’t doing anything.
If you’re in the midwest, Meijer stores are big on selling locally produced foods. Their prices are comparable to Walmart.
Let's not overlook this little tidbit. Always follow the money.
I don't have a big problem with this. It presents a huge business opportunity for American-based producers to create an entire business model and marketing campaign around a "Our Chicken Ain't Made in China" "Made in the U.S.A." brand.
Only positive is that, at least here, the chicken processing jobs are mainly Mexican. Maybe they will just go home.
I will be buying whole chickens and will use my own knives and shears to cut them up. I usually buy the local Amish ones that cost more, anyway. I can’t remember when I ever bought frozen cooked chicken, but I think it is time to increase the stockpile of canned chicken and broth before this takes effect. I need to research the source of chicken in the stock base I use.
If the backlash is loud enough, I think the domestically sourced product will brag about it on the package. This is a non-partisan issue and the Greens and Eat Local people will be all over it, I hope.
We have a local meat shop/slaughter house. They’ll be getting more business from us.
For later.
I am not eating that crap if I can help it or serving it to my family. How do we know where it came from?
You can eat local people?
Recipes?
America. The land whose automobile industry at one time furnished over 2/3 of all cars in the world. Now toasters, neckties and Christmas ornaments come from China along with most everything else.
Thank the confiscatory central socialist government for all this evil. The China lop-sided trade began when the Chinese bought the Worth Bank in Little Rock to cozy up to their biggest investment: Billy Goat and Hitlery Clinton.
I’ll tell you what they will do: they will import the inexpensive Chinese-grown poultry, sell it to Americans at a high price, and pocket the profit.
Kill some of us.
LOL!
The Chinese chicken isn’t required to be labeled but that doesn’t stop those who process chicken in the US to label it as such. Then we can look for the US label on food that can be labeled. Makes sense to me.
I work at a Boston Area Hospital and just learned the Vendor of the Dietary Department is serving FISH that comes From CHINA. I can no longer eat fish at Work.
Thank you Buster Obama
I'm not even sure you can buy local chicken from anywhere anymore, it's ILLEGAL
unless you buy the chicken and kill it yourself. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Obama knew nothing about this until, just like you he heard about it from the news. Oh well carry on!
All canned tuna comes from outside the united States.
We can be thankful (?) that our sardines come from Canada along with our cod sold out of our grocer’s case. To think that we can’t even can our own sardines is sickening.
Cannery Row along the California coast has been morphed into rows of chic shops. No more fishing in that area. The central socialist government has worked overtime to destroy the U. S. fishing industry.
If the backlash is loud enough, I think the domestically sourced product will brag about it on the package. This is a non-partisan issue and the Greens and Eat Local people will be all over it, I hope.
_______________
I think that I will buy a smaller canner and start canning my own broth from bones.
