RUSH: Jesse, somewhere in Texas. I have one minute, but I wanted to get to you. Hi.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. Mega Air Force brat dittos.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: I wanted to call and let you know that I'm working in health care. I'm actually a comptroller for a hospital, but I'd heard rumors this was happening. My wife last week had a family doctor appointment with an OBGYN, and one or two of the mandatory questions she was asked is, "Do you own a gun in your house, and do you keep it loaded in your house?" They would not register her as a patient until she answered that question.
RUSH: Now, you had heard that was coming, but you didn't know it was real until yesterday?
CALLER: Well, 'til last week when my wife had that appointment.
RUSH: Last week.
CALLER: She came home and I was shocked.
RUSH: You were shocked, even though you had heard about it before?
CALLER: I heard rumors, but I was like, "There's no way a health care provider is going to ask that kind of question."
RUSH: Unless they are mandated to by the federal government.
CALLER: Well, and I figure it's part of Obamacare, but just the sheer fact that they asked the question and they wouldn't even let her register as a patient until she answered the question blew my mind.
RUSH: Right. Well, that's the tip of the iceberg of the things that they're gonna know about everybody who signs up.

Yeah. I met mine at the local rifle range. He asked me about guns, yeah, like where could he find any brass for a .257 Roberts?
She should have said my husband always keeps it cocked and loaded...oh did you mean firearms? My apologies to the ladies.
Consider it OPSEC - operational security. Lie. They have no need to know and giving them that information can only do you harm. So in spite off sitting there in your 5.11 vest, ESS shades, and NRA hat... When they ask about firearms simply and calmly say, why no, of course not. Do not have any qualms about withholding this information. The people seeking this information are not your friends.
“Also, be prepared for them to ask, “do you feel safe at home”
Today when I visited the endocrinologist I was given a questionnaire to fill out with these types of questions. My favorite: “Do you fear an ex spouse?”
I had an OBGYN ask me that five years ago. I informed him that it was the best form of rape prevention, especially since I worked downtown.
Ha! I helped one of the SAS’s who was a FReeper clean up the formatting on that a long time ago, perhaps a decade. That’s good stuff.
The POTUS lies so we can too.
You’re not under oath when answering the question, unless there is a “I declare all this to be true under penalty of perjury” signature line you’re fine. You can also caveat that line with a comment to the effect that all rights are reserved and that it isn’t binding on any contracts.
Lie.
Lie about everything that does not have to do with direct current care.

Answer? Not since s/he got shot....but not by me, mind you....there are no guns in my house....no no no...not here.
And so I answered: "Go Eff yourself. And that's a legitimate answer.
Doc wrote it down and agreed, it was a legitimate "answer."
That should be the response. Excellent.
I had a gyn ask me that question nearly 2 decades ago at a practice in the NE. She totally overlooked a major medical issue (PCOS) and spent the entire 15m appointment lecturing me on abusive boyfriends, the evils of guns and slathering on as much sunscreen as I could manage. In spite of my having already told her I had no boyfriend, no gun and worked indoors between 7am and 7pm, repeatedly.
Ivy league educated too. Total waste of my money and my time.
Right after ACA went into effect I went to my regular Doctor.
He sighed and said “I have to ask these questions sorry.”
Do you own a gun?
I lied
Do you drink?
I lied
Do you take any drugs other than what I prescribe?
I told the truth.
He apologized again and it was normal after that
“I would never own one of those thing...they’re dangerous!”....
They're = They Are.
I KNOW what you meant, and that was "THERE ARE" no weapons.
There and Their sound alike, but are two entirely different words.
So why the grammar nazi?
Your (not you're) enemy uses it to paint you as an illiterate red neck. (RATZ misspell words ALL THE TIME, but they are RATZ, and everyone expects them to be stupid.) Hope you don't get too mad at me.
“My doctor has his FFL.”
Rats. Mine collects Mausers, but it looks like you bettered me.
My Dr loves to hunt. Find a doctor who is a gun guy or gal and hang onto them.
