US Envoy Caroline Kennedy Meets Japan's Emperor
TOKYO November 19, 2013
New U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy traveled by horse-drawn carriage into the Imperial Palace to present her credentials to Japan's emperor on Tuesday, giving the public a rare look at a diplomatic tradition.
Thousands of onlookers lined the avenues near the moat-ringed palace to snap pictures and wave as Kennedy, the 55-year-old daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy, waved back from inside the carriage.

Ted Kennedy botched his big TV interview when he couldn't answer the question of why he wanted to be President.

I’ve posted this comment before as this developed but I gotta go there again and that’s the macabre irony of her being the envoy to a country that actively tried to ensure she was never born. I’ve never seen any similar observation from any part of the media but I find it interesting.

Check my post from Dr. Paugh titled “1989 A bittersweet year”. I just posted it for folks to get a first hand eye witness account of what things could be like here if we can’t get this crap turned around.

Shirley Temple was an Ambassador.
It’s a meaningless position.

Her main limiting congenital defect is being born a kennedy.

Did Envoy Caroline Kennedy bow like her sainted Master, which was seen as a mockery and a sign of treachery by the Imperial family of Japan??
And how can one tell? The Imperial couple did not bow back. They trust America now about as far as Her Imperial Majesty can spit, which she never does BTW. In Japan how one bows allows a judgement of character and Obama flunked big time. Carolyn does not have a hope of mending that tripe. They needed to appoint someone who speaks the language fluently, like Lazamataz or Fred Nerks..... :-)

Japan is an important ally and an important country in Asia as well as an one of the largest economies in the world.
I wonder how the Japanese government will receive this purely political appointment of a totally unqualified person. Will they think it is a deliberate affront and a consequent loss of face?

Caroline Kennedy has for the first time revealed details of a personal fortune estimated to be between $250 million and $500 million, with income of between $12 million and $30 million a year.
Kennedy, President Obama’s nominee to be U.S. ambassador to Japan, must by law make public her financial holdings, in order to prove she would have no conflict of interest in that post. In 2008, during a bid for the Senate that she ultimately dropped, she declined to release her personal financial data.

That will buy her a lot of sushi in Japan but still no one will trust her or the USA.

I'll give her exactly one week to get her act together, but no more than that. (After all, we have to practice the "Golden Rule" from time to time and it would be a tall order for me were I in her shoes, though I imagine I would be up to warp speed on issues already in comparison to her, and the poor thing is going to have briefing books up to her eyebrows for sixth months. She takes over a a most dangerous time for Japan in the East Asian scheme of things. Typically Obaman, actually, all of it.
PS What I find eery is her going by horse drawn carriage and yet her father 50 years ago today was carried to his resting place also by a horse drawn caisson. Can't get much stranger than that.
