But apparently the State thought it was safe to go 55 in THAT stretch.
Stands to reason. If they don't have cause to write you a ticket, they shouldn't be pulling you over.

New Mexico should have Predator drones in the air loaded with Hellfire missiles for this type of runaway mother and kids situation. < /sarc >
Are you permitted to drive a motor vehicle in Minnesota ? Do you know the difference between a WHITE road sign Please stay in Minnesota. You seem to be a slow child
or require professional help
for anger management.
and a YELLOW road sign ?
A little projection going on there my friend. I’m cool as clam. You on the other hand are blowing a gasket.
Get much snow this weekend? Just rained down here.
“No death penalty for physical attack.
Are you saying that Zimmerman was not justified?
The other issue is she may have wrecked on the mountain road and injured other people or herself and passengers.
The ongoing argument about pursuits is always a mixture of criminals getting away and/or LEO or innocents being injured/killed. If a car is pursued and runs into innocents killing them, then the cops are bad guys for pursuing. If the cops do not pursue and fleeing person runs into innocents then the cops are bad guys for not pursuing/stopping the person before the accident. If person flees because it turns out they are serial killer or other very bad person then cops are bad guys for letting the person get away. There are a lot of considerations in handling fleeing people, not really easy solutions.
In this case I think she should have been cuffed and put in patrol car after she was stopped the second time for sure. That would have helped keep her from being able to flee again and made it easier for them to deal with her son when he became stupid. In my opinion the LEO didn’t handle this well and it got out of control. I also think the woman is a criminal that is raising her children to be criminals.
Are you saying the cop was on the ground getting his head bashed into the concrete?
“Are you saying the cop was on the ground getting his head bashed into the concrete?”
No. Just countering your claim that one is not justified in using deadly force when physically attacked.
Obviously I didn’t claim that.
Oh yes you did.
Oh no I didn’t.
repeat 25 times.
Fun times on Free Republic.
I fully expected snow but it only rained
here in the valley at 7000 feet.
That’s surprising, I’m at 7400’ but much farther south.
Agreed. If the cops didn’t try to stop her and she killed herself and kids or other people in an accident...they were negligent.
Not knowing if the 14YO was armed they had to investigate in case someone in the car had a weapon or was being held hostage. If they didn’t...they are negligent.
Shooting at the tires was a last resort to stop her. She ended up driving at up to 100mph on that road which is very mountainous and twisty. I’m glad they did what they did and she’s lucky she and her kids walked away unharmed.
They have radios, they have more cops up the road, they have spike strips and so on. Absolutely no legitimate reason to shoot.
Everybody there goofed up big time but shooting at a fleeing car occupied by innocent people, when it is not in any way an immediate threat, can not be condoned.
NM State Police patrol pretty large areas. 2 of my nephews were on the force for a while and each had 800 to 1000 square miles of area where they were the only NMSP. I was surprised to see three cruisers in this video. About 400 officers and over 200,000 square miles.
