Poll: Republicans take lead on Congressional generic ballot

An 11-point swing in favor of Republicans from last month’s Fox News poll:

What a difference a couple weeks makes. Republicans have a slim three-point advantage when Americans are asked about their vote preference for Congress in the latest Fox News poll. That’s an 11 percentage-point shift from last month when Democrats had an 8-point edge.

The poll finds “if the Congressional election were held today,” 43 percent of voters would back the Republican in their district and 40 percent the Democratic candidate.

That’s a reversal from last month when 45 percent backed the Democratic candidate and 37 percent the Republican (October 20-22, 2013).

Wow:

Adding to the dismal news from the Q poll on the honesty question, here are President Obama’s numbers from the Fox poll:

Half of voters believe President Obama “knowingly lied” when he repeatedly told Americans they could keep their plans under his signature health care law…

Seventy-nine percent of Republicans, 51 percent of independents and 22 percent of Democrats believe Obama knowingly lied to get the law passed.

Furthermore, a 59-percent majority believes the administration knew ahead of time that people would be kicked off their insurance because of the law, and 55 percent think the White House has “tried to deceive” people about it. Some 38 percent say the administration has “been honest.”

The lack of trust extends to Obama’s recent apology to Americans losing their insurance because of Obamacare. While 38 percent of voters believe the apology was sincere, many more — 58 percent — feel it was “mostly for political reasons.”

On that point, another wow:

The Q poll had Republicans and Democrats tied on the generic ballot.

Remember when Democrats were going to run on Obamacare in 2014? Remember when the government shut down was going to bequeath unto Democrats permanent majorities from now until the end of time?

From the Fox News link to the poll:

Anderson Robbins Research (D) / Shaw & Company Research (R) N= 1,006 registered voters (694 landline, 312 cell phone)

So with Likely Voters it is going to look even better.

A month ago, the MSM was hysterical, screaming at the top of its lungs that Ted Cruz had committed a whopper-blunder of historical proportions that would bring Obama a Congressional majority for his last two years in office.

Anyone else remember that?

I thought the Government Shutdown and Ted Cruz had DOOOOOOMED the GOP?

But, that's what Larry Sabato, The Cook Report, and Nate Silver told me!

The shutdown which didn't affect anything or anyone in any major way, that'll DEFINITELY be a major factor a year after the shutdown. Especially with the Low Info/Short Memory voters the democrats count on.

Yup, it's the shutdown, not Obamacare that's a disaster and will have a major negative effect on the vast majority of Americans.

Our leadership should be out front reminding people that not one republican voted for obamacare, and what is happening to peoples insurance is exactly what we told you was going to happen.

Millions would lose coverage
Premiums would rise

Wonderful how the pubs take the lead a week after the elections. But never fear, by the next election, they will have cemented a healthy lag....

These generic national polls mean a lot less than a poll in the 100 or so swing districts would mean.

There are a great, great many of us conservatives out here who might normally answer a poll question like Democrat or Republican for Congress with a “Republican” response, but fully expect, intend and are committed to destroying RINO incumbents mercilessly in the respective primaries they will have to face.

Make the choices Democrat, Republican (RINO) and Conservative and you have a whole new outcome.

Hopefully the GOP will once again not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

But, that's what Larry Sabato, The Cook Report, and Nate Silver told me!

Actually, IIRC, Nate Silver was surprisingly a voice of reason on this. He pointed out that the political effect of a government shutdown is generally not that significant, and this was unlikely to have much of an effect in 2014.

"Poll: Republicans take lead on Congressional generic ballot..."

.... I am sure those numbers will change as the GOP establishment embraces the might King Obama ... ruler of America's .... Obamacare fix today.

.... After all ... they have an inherent fatal flaw of almost ALWAYS snatching defeat from the jaws of victory ... aka their usual and standard strategy.

That, actually, could very well be the case. I'd read several quotes of his yesterday, and they may have been selectively harvested.

The shutdown out-factoring obamacare only resides in the minds of the most sycophantic obamabots.

They had the “generic lead” in the last few election cycles only to get their real a$$es stomped.
