That's right. Ted Cruz to be on Leno tonight. Looking forward to FReepers comments as they are always informative and many are very humorous at the same time. Buckle up FReepers. I'm sure that Ted and Jay will keep us both informed and entertained.
Stay tuned or set your DVRs (NBC). This should be great. Go Cruz!
Hopefully, this is posted early enough to give FReepers time to plan on watching or recording. I will do both :)
TONIGHT 11:35/10:35c

The following are a few drive-by media links announcing his appearance.

Thank you very much for the heads up.
Cruz should have responded: “THE PRESIDENT has been a long time supporter of traditional marriage so my Dad’s in good company...”
I was expecting a few serious questions but mostly some light banter and fun, friendly give-&-take. Perhaps some mutual bashing of Obamacare between Ted & Jay.
Instead Leno acted like he was conducting a job interview with an NBC intern.
Senator Cruz was clearly there for a good time - and seemed a little surprised rather than threatened by the game face Jay immediately assumed.
It was a real downer.
After Jay’s opening monologue BASHING Obamacare (”If you like your land, you can keep it”) and that peppy actress who preceded Cruz, the audience was Up and Jazzed.
Instead poor Ted had to endure Jay’s tedious Sunday talk show questions. There was zero-fun in that interview. It sucked all the enjoyment out of the room.
You could see the wheels turning in Ted’s head, “I’m exhausted - but I put up with a flight out to LA for a change-of-pace and enjoyable exchange, esp. with Ocare in tatters and the President on the ropes this week. wow, Really? Instead, we’re gonna go HERE?”
Bor-ing.
I bet most viewers tuned out... Even I got up to go in the kitchen towards the end..... Good job, Jay (not)
I used to absolutely adore Leno, but his constant bashing of Bush for eight years turned me off. I’ve watched him cautiously over the years since, but always knowing he’d jump at the chance to go after a conservative.
Leno’s treatment of Cruz was horrible. As you say, all left wing talking points. He all of a sudden had very specific facts, treating him TOTALLY DIFFERENT than he would a demoncrat. All business, nothing the least personal at all! And he introduced him saying something like “the controversial” Ted Cruz, or something.
I’m glad Leno’s going after 0bama, but he’s still no friend of conservatives. And I wish Cruz would have brought up the $17 TRILLION deficit! Enough low information voters watch Leno, and that may have been news to them.
Tonight Show Audience Cheers When Ted CruzImagine that! :)
Says ObamaCare's the Biggest Jobs Killer in This CountryBarack Obamas signature legislative achievement has become a laughing stock.
On NBCs Tonight Show Friday, the audience broke out into cheers and applause when Senator Ted Cruz (R-Tx.) told host Jay Leno, ObamaCare: it's the biggest jobs killer in this country (video follows with transcript and commentary)...
Leno’s demeanor with liberals is so different from the way he was with Senator Cruz. I thought Ted did a good job with what he was given. Jay throwing out lib talking points and talking over Ted’s answers. I admire Cruz’s intelligence and ability to “think on his feet.” I thought he did very well with what he was given. And so glad the applause for Ted was the loudest.

Hi RonDog. Good to see you out and about...
The so called "Koolaid drinkers" (as you put it) here are simply pointing out that Leno treats his political guests with a double standard. One standard for small government type pols and one standard for big government type pols.
And they are right to point this out.
I agree. Cruz gets a B+/A- from me tonight. He had a handful of missed opportunities.
For example he could have said that it takes both houses plus the executive branch to shut down the government. He could have mentioned that the government was actually 83% open....etc.
He did make numerous good responses though and came across quite well.
:)
WOW!
Imagine THAT!!!!
WOW! Just WOW!
So Teacher Unions can constantly “go on strike” and “shut down” Schools, Communities and Economies to call attention to and demand “their rights.”
But when Taxpayers also go on strike and “shut down” govt temporarily to stop overt corruption such as crony Obamacare “waivers,” EBT cards sold on Craigs list, govt-produced Star Trek videos, and Taxpayer-funded IRS which abuse to win elections - they deserve the same respect and “hearing” by the public and the media. But they just get sh*t and grieve, with Ted Cruz being Exhibit A of this egregious “double-standard” treatment.
Wish Ted Cruz (and others) would say THAT, for once. Nobody, not even LI Voters like to be abused, harassed or deprived of basic rights (esp. when it comes to IRS).
You make a very good point.
He had a handful of missed opportunities. The folks at the Huffing-and-Puffing-ton Post were all over THAT one:For example he could have said that it takes both houses plus the executive branch to shut down the government.
He could have mentioned that the government was actually 83% open....etc.
Jay Leno Calls Out Ted Cruz On Shutdown:
'You Looked Like A Big Fan From Where I Was Standing'...About four minutes into the interview, Leno asked Cruz why the shutdown went through,
posing the idea that if Obamacare would have been allowed to go forward,
the early struggles with the law may have been seen in a different light."Listen, Jay, I'm one of the many people who was not a fan of shutting down the government," "Well you looked like a big fan from where I was standing," Leno interjected.
"I said throughout 'we shouldn't shut down the government,'" Cruz said seconds later.
"And the reason we had a government shutdown is President Obama and the Democrats
said 'we will not negotiate and we will not compromise.'"Recent polls show that three weeks after the shutdown came to a close,
Americans are still angry at both Congress and President Barack Obama...
You have FReep-mail. :)

“I guarantee you can keep your doctor and your healthcare plan; nobody can take them away from you! PERIOD”
