That's right. Ted Cruz to be on Leno tonight. Looking forward to FReepers comments as they are always informative and many are very humorous at the same time. Buckle up FReepers. I'm sure that Ted and Jay will keep us both informed and entertained.
Stay tuned or set your DVRs (NBC). This should be great. Go Cruz!
Hopefully, this is posted early enough to give FReepers time to plan on watching or recording. I will do both :)
TONIGHT 11:35/10:35c
Mariska Hargitay, Senator Ted Cruz
Musical Guest - Gavin DeGraw
The following are a few drive-by media links announcing his appearance.

I thought it was really good and that they both did a good job.
Cruz is willing to break out of the fantasy world of talk radio where he just gets praised over and over and instead to take on real questions that he will get asked in the real world.
WAY Better now then the debates in 2016 where like the others who got them and decided on the spot :”DUHH, I never thought of that. I never been asked that before. Maybe I should just smile and pass on it”

I'll give him a honest A.
If I was allowing for "experience", I'd give Sen. Cruz at least an A-. But, I am not making that allowance. Life's tough and politics is cruel & unforgiving, especially to conservatives in 2013.
Leno has his crap preloaded (RAT talking points), Cruz had to think fast totally cold and make sure not to have a slip up.
Cruz should have been equally prepped or better. Surely he should not have been "cold". After all, this stuff is his pidgin and his life, now. Conservative pols MUST realize all this when going into these opportunities.
He accomplished that perfectly, he did no damage to himself.
I concur that he made no serious gaffes or mistakes -- I just think he could have been stronger in some areas. Again, that's with 20/20 hindsight and not myself being in the hotseat, as I said.
If he had gone into long winded answers, Leno would have cut him off more and made his answers look disjointed.
Well, what I was trying to list there were several different usable counterpoints, any of which can be made in 2, maybe 3 sentences. By no means should Cruz or anyone else try to cram them all into one long answer. That said... one thing I often see with conservatives in situations like this is that they don't quite seem to have mastered the art of how to get their point across and not let themselves be cut off.
Don't forget, he was on Leno's field and did not lose to him.
Oh, I agree, but to get an "A" from me, Cruz has to make that field his own. Even Ron Paul, while I disagree with him sometimes on substance, on occasion manages to accomplish that "field taking" on Leno. A lot of that is, again, experience, but I can hope Sen. Cruz is a fast learner. :-)
He got in several some good points, and did not come across as the raving loonSeveral times, however, I think that he missed key opportunities
that the Left tries to portray him as, even as Jay repeatedly badgered him -- unfairly, I think.
I thought that Leno was helping Cruz by specifically and respectfully asking him those questions that represent criticisms that are made about him regularly on media that many Americans see.
It gave him a chance to respond.
Yes, his responses were not perfect.
But that is how you learn, how he can train to do even better in the future.
He will NEVER learn that just by being praised on talk radio.
Like a question:What books have you read that you really liked?
Bad answer: AHHH, OOHHH, Well so many that I cant think of one.
I didn’t see the program. I just believe that being on a liberal TV program for the first time it is wise of Cruz not to appear as an arrogant, argumentative, know-it-all. Better to come across as an informed, genial, reasonable, nice guy. Which I believe he is.
We never got in. We were 20 people away from the door, and they dismissed us! So so so disappointed. My guest wanted to leave after that.
Folks, The Tonight show ushered in about 50 “VIP” guests - they were let in around the rest of us. They Took OUR seats. I had 2 “confirmed” tickets, but we could not enter!
I’ll be those 50 ‘VIP’ guests were the ‘Rats placed in the audience to applaud every time Jay Leno read his canned talking points accusing Ted of shutting down [corrupt] govt.
RonDog, did you notice if those people who were clapping for Jay sitting in one area together?
Still, Ted was truly awesome - and you Freepers were Just wonderful with your boisterous LOUD Applause!!! Thank you for representing us!
I was mad that my Time Warner Cable DVR screwed up the recording, until I saw how obnoxious Leno was! I’m glad I only saw clips. Cruz was fine, but Jay was nasty. I hadn’t watched Leno in a long time either but a friend had told me about a few shows a couple weeks ago that had somebody I liked on and they were funny. Jay was purposely very unfunny tonight!
Mark Levin is the best. Sharp mind, sharp wit, sharp teeth.
I’ll bet a dollar to a donut that she left because Senator Cruz would be sitting next to her.
You just know she’s a Libtard.
Yes I believe she is an Obama supporter.
I remember when Jay was not like this, but a friend told me he changed after his mother died. That is when he began to become liberal.
As for Cruz I think he held up well with being tossed hardball questions like his father which has nothing to do with Obamacare or his politics. I do not recall Leno asking Obama about his father. I am glad Cruz did this because it will expose him to more wide audience.
Cannot agree. Jay’s “job” isn’t to attack his Guests.
I always knew Jay was a Democrat, very obvious. I didn’t think he was a Liberal Democrat, but it was proven to me tonight that he is, along with being an Obama apologist.
At the same time I had given him the benefit of the doubt. He always seemed like a fair and reasonable person. Heck, he once invited a Friend of ours to his house after he had stopped and helped Jay when one of his Antique Cars was broken down on the side of the road in Beverly Hills. Our friend said Jay couldn’t be nicer or more personable.
After seeing him “interview” Senator Cruz tonight I realize that everything I thought about him is a smokescreen. I can tolerate some kidding around with a person he disagrees with, but his interrogation of Senator Cruz, a GUEST on his show was inexcusable.
You can make excuses for Leno’s incivility, but all I now know is that Leno is just another Letterman with more hair and a bigger chin.
I Think Ted did fine.
If Ted can't handle Jay, why should we put faith in him?
I assume that you and I saw the same Interrogation, I mean Interview.
Leno was helping Cruz, really? Leno let his mask down and exposed himself as just another Liberal who hates everything that people who Post here hold sacred.
If you want to take on the role as an Apologist for Leno’s uncivil and uncalled for questions and remarks, be my guest. All Leno did tonight was add himself to my Enemies of America list.
Jay wasn’t engaging, or witty or civil. I expected him to be but the jokes on me.
Jay’s job is to treat ALL his guests with respect and dignity. Dis you see any humorous bantering during the Cruz Interview? I certainly didn’t. It was like watching Letterman wearing a Leno mask doing the interview.
It was like a different Leno appeared after the Actress segment. I also noticed that she left the stage before Senator Cruz came out. I’ll bet it was more about who she would be sitting next to than having some pressing business that forced her to leave early.
A den of snakes, nothing more, nothing less.
Ted did fine.
If he can’t stand the heat, he should stay out of the kitchen.
Ted did fine.
Jay said something snarky...
Boohoo
