The 50th-anniversary coverage of the Kennedy assassination on CBS News won't include the recollections of its longtime anchor Dan Rather, further proof of the lingering bitterness following Rather's messy exit and subsequent lawsuit against the network.
Rather helped organize CBS' plans for President John F. Kennedy's visit to Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963, and as a young reporter was a key component of assassination coverage. Now 82, with his own show on AXS-TV, he's one of the few reporters on the story that day who's still active in journalism...

Didn’t Dan Ratherbiased go public with the word that JFK had passed away before he had confirmation of the fact?
First to break the story makes you famous.
What's The Frequency Kenneth?
Dan got caught doing what CBS always does.
Liberals always throw people under the bus because they have neither honor, nor loyaty.
Meanwhile AP had the same story about the National Guard memos and I don’t recall anyone losing their job or reputation over it.
Dan Rather has fallen further and faster than a North Korean missile test!
The hack would probably show up with letters proving Bush was behind it all along.
Meanwhile the CRIMINAL conspiracy of WHO created the forged National Guard memos was never resolved. WHO served a single day in prison for it?
Dan Rather early on reported he had seen a film (Zapruder?) and Kennedy was turned to the side and was waving to the crowd—hence allowing him to be hit from the front in the throat even though his assassin was behind him.
Since there is no film showing such, Rather was presenting a cover story to explain the front throat wound.
Later, after the front throat wound was dropped altogether from the official story, that account by Rather was deep-sixed. (It may be around on the NET somewhere.)
But clearly no one wants anyone asking uncomfortable questions...
The lesson is, if you are going to lie don't leave your evidence behind.

There were 2 films of the assassination (one from the other side of the street). Doesn’t change whether it was an entry or exit shot, just that “film” does not automatically mean Zapruder’s.
I have watched the Zapruder film, multiple times, but it never registered how the shot that hit Kennedy in the neck did not expand, whereas the one that hit him in the head exploded.
That's two different weapons. Oswald was using a full-metal jacketed round. The AR15 was using a frangible round.
It's always been obvious that there was some kind of cover-up, which is why the conspiracy theories will never die. If a Secret Service agent accidentally shot Kennedy seconds after Lee Harvey Oswald did, that would explain everything.
If I recall, Dan Rather jumped the gun on airing the memos. I think the original plan was to put them on 60 Minutes on a Sunday but AP was going to publish them before that date so he moved up his broadcast (to a Wednesday possibly?).
Neither AssPress nor SeeBS gave any exposure to the suspicious discoveries regarding the released image for 3 days.
October Surprise. Anything to steal an election. Next time they try such a stunt, they’ll do what they can to put it closer to election day (like the election eve release of the “breaking news” of GW Bush’s prior DWI charge). It clearly cost him some support and if that amounted to 0.52% of the national vote, then it cost him the POPULAR VOTE that Al Gore Junior loves boasting about.
