are billboards legal in that locale?
if so, there’s the precedent for legal action against the town censors

In response to what they say is discriminatory behavior, Tea Party activists in the vicinity are considering taking legal action against Campbell. Sounds like there could be cause, that's for sure.
Petty small-town tyrants trying to impress their Hero?

Town Chairman Scott Johnson claims the decision stemmed from them distracting people, which he said constituted a safety risk.
The ALL the signs visible from the highway, advertising everything from Big Mac's to Motels and elections, exits, fuel stops, intersections and especially those lighted blinking road hazard warnings are also "Distracting". IOW you are what you are, a political hack Johnson.

They obviously aren't showing the right amount of ardor for our glorious leader! Perhaps they need to spend some time in re-education so that they can better understand all the historic, unprecedented things he has done for them!
Does that even need the sarcasm tag?

Then all speed, warning, and informational signs the government posts, need to be removed.
If signs are too distracting, then they must be done away with.

Local resident Tony Curtis said that the town is "hiding behind safety as an excuse," explaining that protesters were told they could engage in free speech provided they found another location. Most of today's soft tyranny is justified by "safety" for one group or another. It's either for "the children" or "the poor" or one "minority" or another. People who value safety over freedom will soon find neither, only the cruel studded boot of a tyrant.

Test it. Put up signs that say things like
All hail to our glorious President Obama! The greatest genius of all time!
and
Obama is God!
If those things stay up then you file suit immediately.

Why is it that with liberals, from the Soviet Union, China, and Hitler’s Germany, that their ideas always end up with fences?

1 - Put a sign on one bridge that says “Support Obama”.
2 - Put a sign on another bridge that says “Impeach Obama”.
3 - Wait for selective enforcement.
4 - Get a good Lawyer
5 - Sue them for every penny they have

Ensure retractions are applied equally.
Use Billboards instead, as courts have settled that issue.
I’m not a fan of overpass banners, for ANY protest.

No practice of free speech in that town of Wisconsin?
They need to take this to the Supreme Court. The town would lose!

The entire 120 miles of the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) has a similar rule. They claim to own the rights to all areas *above* the road itself, including the many bridges under which it passes.a great way for a People's Republic to stifle free speech.

Campbell thinks it can piss all over the First Amendment?
To: ThE_RiPpEr.
Freedom to protest is not just for Obama approved protesters who blanketed cities across the USA last year...breaking city laws in the process...town councils, boards etc. too weak to stop the law breaking...sleeping in parks etc. but Campbell, Wis. decides not to allow any discourse/disgust about Barry Obama? That is disgusting. It is a fact that if Barry Obama were White instead of Negro, he would have been impeached by now for crimes against his country and countrymen.
