President Obama has declined an invitation to speak at next months ceremony marking the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address.
The event, slated for Nov. 19 at the Soldiers' National Cemetery in Gettysburg, instead will feature Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and renowned historian James McPherson as the keynote speakers, the Gettysburg National Military Park said in a press release.
President Obama will not attend and the Secretary of Interior will represent the administration, the park pointed out in the first paragraph of its press release.
Its unclear why Mr. Obama, a noted admirer of President Lincoln, declined the invitation. Among other tributes to the 16th president, Mr. Obama used the Lincoln Bible at both of his inauguration ceremonies, in 2009 and 2013.
Skipping the event may not make many waves in Washington, but its already causing an uproar in Pennsylvania.
Writing for the Harrisburg, Pa., newspaper the Patriot News, journalist Donald Gilliland said the presidents decision is nothing less than a profile in cowardice.

That’s because the White House can’t hand pick the audience for this event.

But used no Bible in his secret inauguration. But I’m surprised he doesn’t care about this event. It marks the battle that paved the way for his usurpation.
His party was on the losing side of that war.

Kennedy: Democrat
That’s all you need to know to understand Obongo’s decision.
He could easily attend both events should he choose to do so. They are several days apart.

If President Bush was still President, he would be going to the 50th Anniversary of JFK’s assassination. There has only been 44 People as President out of billions of Americans so this trumps everything! Probably the hardest job to get percentage wise on the planet.
Hypocrisy has never bothered BO. In fact, he's raised it to a whole new level.
I think he and/or his handlers have just made the calculation that there is no political payoff worth the risk of backlash from the people who actually care about the country he has taken over via electoral coup d'etat.

Bush cares one helluva lot more about this country than Obongo does.
Bush would attend because it’s the right thing to do.
Obongo would attend only because of the politics and optics of doing so.
Obongo has an airplane at his disposal. He could attend the ceremony in Pennsylvania on Nov. 19, and the ceremony in Dallas on the 22nd, leaving him plenty of time for some rounds of golf in between.
No conflict at all.
Will he be busy on the hustings, shaking down the ignorant libs in Follywood, again? Or the Wall St. bankers that he can fine into oblivion if they don’t cough up adequate campaign stash for next year’s election? He’s as busy as a carny in crooked booth at a county fair.

If he were truly an intellectual and appreciative for being an important person in our nations history, he would eagerly attend and deliver a memorable American speech. A short 150 years produced a black president.
