When U.S. commandos grabbed a former al Qaeda operative in Tripoli this month, American forces were just hours away from potentially launching a more dangerous covert raid to capture a militia figure facing charges in the deadly Benghazi terror attack, U.S. officials tell CNN.
U.S. special operations forces were ready, if ordered, to enter Benghazi and capture Ahmed Abu Khattalah, a leading figure in the Ansar Al-Sharia militia. But the mission never materialized.

Benghazi ping.
Let Republicanprofessor know if you want one or off this Benghazi ping list.
While this person may well have been a prominent factor in the events perpetrated by Muslim fanatics in Benghazi, I feel the real action needed here is to adjudicate the absolute and careless, intentional disregard by US officials (i.e., Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama) that allowed this debacle to occur.
If you want a suspect and point-of-focus, go to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and to wherever that woman now resides (we can be assured it is nowhere Bill Clinton is so that’s something to cut down the search envelope).....
You don’t need anyone to risk their life over a byproduct terrorist - give him a Predator Present. Spend your time getting to the real reason for the deaths.
Let me guess..."stand down" order?
WHO gave the STAND DOWN ORDER????????
I thought they had the guy who made the video. /s
Like all other first person witnesses, you will never see him. They do not want him captured, only killed. I predict he will soon fall victim to a predator.
So funny, this pattern, huh? Before when the teams got close to a snatch, and WHADDYA KNOW, their gear and 100 humvees.were spirited away into the inky black of the Libyan desert night by, uhhh, naughty Muslim elves.
FUNNY HOW THAT WORKS...!
And THIS time...?
No green light.
Ah! BUT, as the article says in closing, IT IS COMPLEX.
So now you understand, deep.down, right...?
GayMuzzie knows he must skate the knife edge between, on he one hand appearing to do nothing, and on the other hand screwing up by actually arresting some dangerous S.O.B. who cod blab some really damning stuff under interrogation.or.in.discovery.
So he has to send out all the king’s men to.expensively vroom vroom.around the desert and COME UP WITH NOTHING.
They don’t want people to think Obama isn’t doing anything at all to get the Benghazi perps.
So he ordered this elaborate dangerous mission into Libya to capture someone who had nothing at all to do with Benghazi.
Maybe they’ll hold him in the cell next to the you-tube guy.
If ordered. Great. Impressive.
U.S. intelligence agencies and military special operations forces have moved in and out of Libya for several months with the permission of the Libyan government. They are looking for opportunities to capture alleged suspects in the Benghazi attack, developing a list of nearly a dozen individuals.
Thanks for the information. I'd hate to be the guy in Libya trying to organize a secret mission with these jaybirds blabbing everything I do to the press every 15 minutes.
Smart money is on Val. She’s running everything.
“IF ORDERED.” Yeah, don’t look for that order coming from this WH.
Guess the CiC was afraid of who the suspect might implicate, once they caught him.
Gee, I thought Obama already got the guy who created that offensive You Tube video.
I’ll bet Hillary Clinton was poised to go, too. She was sittin’ on the runway ready to light her afterburners and go! They might have to strap some JATOs to her to get her off the ground, though. She’d be screamin’ across the Atlantic like an SR-71 in overdrive going to get some more of Libya’s money. Hit the drag chute, Hillary! You’re going to overshoot the runway!
-——But it was this month that U.S. intelligence finally had enough information about his specific whereabouts that a raid seemed feasible ——
Did they ask CNN? CNN apparently knows
Suspect or patsy?
Couldn’t do that. We would be disrupting BO’s friends.
Besides, we let him out of Gitmo, so it would make the idea of closing Gitmo look bad.
I wrote this soon after it happened and tweeted it to every media person I could find. Judge Jeanine is the only one who thanked me via twitter. Both Judge Jeanine and Mark Levin both began talking about Cross-Border Authority within a day of getting my article, but nobody has ever mentioned who wrote it. That's okay. I'm a right wing whacko novelist, and PNG among "respectable" establishment media figures.
