"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton |

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldnt make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan |

"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792 |

"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." - Samuel Adams |
|
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

St. Trayyyyyyyyyyyyvon's sainted mom sez: when white people defend themselves, it is RAAAAAAACIST.
Seriously, this is the level of rhetoric that the World's Greatest Deliberative Body has fallen to?
Alas, how the mighty have fallen...

I am physically cringing at the media beatdown he is gonna receive after this goes public. Even this guys mortal enemies cannot possibly deny his courage and conviction in the face of public scrutiny at this point.

Cruz, you get my vote for next President. I don’t care if your father is from Cuba, He’s more of a patriot than any GOP or Dem Senator I’ve seen. I think its because he lived under a tyrant and socialism that he is the patriot he is today.

Exploitation of tragedy to promote racial resentment and a political party’s agenda (Democrat). That’s what I see here and thank you Ted Cruz for speaking truth to the situation.
I wonder if Rick Scott could make that kind of a speech in Florida in such a circumstance??????
I don’t think so.

Media’s going to eviscerate Cruz over this, despite the fact that he was an angel to this grieving woman.
While Mrs. Fulton is wrong on the SYG issue, she has to take a good look around and see how many Democrat politicians exploited Trayvon’s death for political gain.
Zimmerman did not use SYG in his defense, and the fact that they’re making Fulton a “face” in this debate is clear politicization on the Demoncat’s part.

Somebody starts needing to tell these people they are full of crap. Good going, Cruz.
To: SoConPubbie
Though Zimmerman's defense team did not end up using Stand Your Ground, it did come out during the trial that Zimmerman was likely aware of the law's protections when he shot Martin. Was he aware that double parking is a violation in most cities? It doesn't matter what laws he was aware of the only thing that matters is whether or not he was justified in using deadly force in self defense. He was.
Was he aware that Skittles are commonly used to make Purple Drank?

Did Trayvon’s mom point out her absence in her child's life as part of the reason he was getting in trouble with the burglary tool, drugs and fight club or was that kind of off topic as far as she was concerned as well?

Cruz did a fine job with his remarks. An irony to me about the entire Travon/Zimmerman incident is that the first time I ever heard of neighborhood watch activity was a TV news story about how black residents had organized a neighborhood watch to try and reduce crime in their neighborhood in Cleveland or Cincinnati, or some mid-western city.
None of the cheap political points some are trying to score are in any way supported by the evidence of that case.
