The Department of Health and Human Services said Sunday it was bringing in outside help to resolve some of the technical woes that have beset the federally run insurance exchanges, which the agency acknowledged “has not lived up to the expectations of the American people.”
“We are committed to doing better,” agency officials said in a blog post that also said that “our team is bringing in some of the best and brightest from both inside and outside government to scrub in with the team and help improve healthcare.gov.”
Spokespeople for the agency didn’t immediately respond to questions seeking more information about the development, which it is billing as a “tech surge.”

A recipe continued disaster. Maybe there could be some success if they canned the current “team” and hired the best and brightest from outside the govt.
But bringing in more help with the existing team still in charge is guaranteed failure.
Too much emphasis on technical glitches and not enough on the basic flaws, including: (1) forcing people with good health insurance to cross-subsidize those without it; (2) forcing people to buy coverage they don’t want or need; (3) price controls on doctors and hospitals, which discourages them from providing quality care; (4) failure to address the lawsuit problem; and (5) cost-increasing regulatory and paperwork burden.
Having been through one or two of these myself, the new team will uncover so many fundamental flaws in the architecture that they will require at least 2-3 years of redesign, plus another year (at least) of testing prior to roll-out. Add in bureaucratic delays and you have a recipe for continuing disaster.
This plan is right out of ATLAS SHRUGGED!!!!!!
And usually in proportion to the amount of new resources added. And it usually incurs a disproportionately high increase in costs.
Oh, and I am sure the requirements are well defined and documented, and have been thoroughly vetted against the regs that define the Law itself.

It’s a rewrite, or they’re in for more epic fails (which could be a good thing).
If Obama focuses on this like he focused like a laser on job creation, where there are now less people employed than in 1979, the exchanges are doomed.
Now their serious. They called the Geek Squad.
That will make it worse. The new people don’t know anything about what what was already coded. They will slow things down. The problem was with the design. Stupid design gives stupid programs.
How is the “tech surge” going to solve the problems of disinterest by healthy youth, obnoxiously high premiums, even higher deductibles, doctor shortages, doctor denials of service to Obamacare enrollees...and I could go on.
Praying for a power surge, or EMP surge, to really “help them out.”
Great idea -- throw more bodies at it. Sounds like most of the managers involved never bothered to read "The Mythical Man-Month".
