----"Plan B" and fiscal cliff vote, redux. Having hammered out a deal to shoot back to the Senate tonight -- with most Republicans reportedly on board -- House GOP leadership has been forced to delay or cancel those votes after support among conservatives collapsed in the early evening hours. The rules committee meeting, which would have formally drawn up the bill and advanced it to the full house, has been postponed indefinitely. The reason is simple. They don't have the votes:
What happened? The counter-offer's broad outline, which I've been following all day, seemed to be on track. Then the medical device tax delay was stripped out, and the "full Vitter Amendment" (no special treatment under Obamacare for Congress, staffers, and White House officials) was inserted in -- both at the behest of the Tea Party faction. You read that right: The House's most ardent conservatives decided they were opposed to stalling or repealing the tax as part of this deal, for tactical reasons. I theoretically sympathize with those reasons. The delay would look like another favor to big business rather than the little guy (which works against the GOP's "fairness" messaging on the mandate tax), it would risk disengaging the medical device industry as a zealous repeal coalition partner, and it would take the issue off the table as a Democrat-dividing maneuver for future negotiations. All that said, since when are conservatives against getting rid of job-killing, innovation-impeding tax increases? A wrong-headed choice, in my estimation. But that's moot now anyway. In spite of those accommodations from leadership and a relatively unified spirit coming out of this morning's meeting, enough members apparently decided that the deal wasn't good enough to merit their support. It seems likely that late-breaking opposition from Heritage Action and FreedomWorks contributed to the whip-count...

If this happens and SNAP withholds their Nov payouts, cities will burn. Has this been confirmed at all ?
Agree with that SomeCallMeTim!! THAT’S a winner and I pray that’s what they will do!
When I think of rove, I get nauseous...is that a “gut feeling”?
Thanks... I think it’s a “no-brainer”.... but, that’s just me. :-)
the people of Kentucky will not return him to Washington, he is a disaster.
You would be wrong there pal. I'm in McConnell's State and he's running ads here almost non-stop insisting he's the ONLY conservative in the race and that Bevin is some kind of evil human being. That and the local news says he has acquired 7 Million more dollars in recent days to run ads here. Where the hell does he get that money? Oh yeah, Tokyo Rove and that same Consultant Cabal in D.C.
Plus, the local folk here might have Conservative leanings, but in the end, money talks and everything else walks. KY may yet return his sorry ass to D.C. if for nothing more than the pork he brings back here for the Ruling Class in Lexington and Frankfort to empower themselves locally.
Remember, this is the state that elected for Obama crony Beshear TWICE.
Folks WE can NEVER forget how corrupt this government is MONEY is
everything. IF WE THE PEOPLE do not start playing this game and putting our money where our mouth is (our small businesses also) we will
NEVER win!!! Tea Party last election remember was STOPPED by the IRS from contributing to their candidates!! I hate these BASTARDS they
do not give a damn about this great republic THEY MUST BE STOPPED!
We may feel defeated however look at what Sarah, Cruz, and Lee are
enduring it is up to us to get them the HELP they need!
Worrying about a presidential veto is stupid. Make him veto it. Make him own it.
Kc, You are correct that the House holds the purse and may “propose” budget items to pay, but the proposals must pass in the Senate and be veto proof (from the prez) and which requires 60 votes.
Boehner can’t get House proposals passed, thus the Senate majority is colluding with RINO’s to pass something. If they come up with something nefarious they will send it to the House.
It is thought that the House Democrats together with RINO Boehner, Cantor and company will be enough to pass over the heads of the conservatives in the House.
Valerie Jarrett has done what she said she’d do. She’s getting even. The house might was well permanently adjourn. The dictatorship is firmly in place.

So who with the ability is actually going through the motions to impeach him?
“The Constitution will be ignored.”
That’s been the norm ever since the first Progressiviks crawled out of the primordial ooze of failed European political theory.
Please take a moment to read my tag line.
“Dont count on Boehner.”
Getting that tattooed on my forehead.
I wouldn’t trust the Weeper of the House to walk my dog, let alone stop the most radical leftist president in US history.
