At a tea party rally in Washington Sunday billed as the Million Vet March, one idiot decided to bring Confederate flag, which was enough for liberals to paint the entire Republican Party as racist.

If only....
The Republican party, the party of Lincoln, now dominates in the South.
The Confederate democrat party has lost it.
The Confederate flag represents the states rights to enslave others. That’s not resistance to tyranny its an embracement of it.
The US Constitution and the US flag should be a source for regional pride as it embraces the liberty for all the Confederate flag does not.
Thanks for the vocab word of the day! Heck yeah, that’s me. I don’t always fit in well in this snooty part of Connecticut, and I don’t try. :)
Funny you should ask, I have a friend in Mississippi; good Bible believing freind that agrees with me on the history of the Democrat Slaver Party and its flag. He flies his Mississippi state flag - the Bonnie Blue Flag of 1861. We would not fly any flag that contains the flag of the Confederat Democratic Slaver Party.
tea party rally = GOP is racist, re_nortex wrote:I think you’ll both be intrigued by this video of the Black Confederate. You might want to have a hankie handy since it’s such a moving story of a truly brave black man standing up for Southern heritage and striking a blow against liberal political correctness.
Blacks who fought in the Confederacy did so with their slave masters.
They had no choice to do so willingly.
Slavery for blacks in the South was not some idealistic utopia. It was harsh, violent and deadly. That’s southern heritage for blacks.
If that man in the picture lived in Mississippi as a slave in the 1860’s I doubt he’d be speaking of the Confederate slave owner who whipped him so well.
So at what should the South have known indicated the Federal Government would cease abridging the Constitution they originally signed on to in good faith?
You actually have the hubris to believe you are more knowledgeable than the guy involved in the display?
I am a Yankee. I am not offended by that flag, and I never will be.
AND lets talk about out of control black on white murder.
I refuse to be ashamed of a flag. The crybabies can sit on it and spin, for all I care.
A majority of Mississippians felt differently when we voted to retain our current flag, including the majority-black county which voted “aye”.

I bet he was standing next to the guy with the Redskins jersey.
what flag flew while a war went on out west against Apaches, Crow, you know that war which killed, raped, robbed and moved them off their land, which flag flew on slave ships and which flag flew on Govt buildings during the war between the states?
Some can argue the stars and stripes enslaved others and is a sign of oppression, my point is that anyone can get all PC and get all stupid about any issue if they like , it is up to others to just ignore them and call them out as what they are, stupid
This Free Republic thread of May 2010 is thought-provoking and presents some alternative points to your assertions. Also, outstanding Conservative and respected historian Dr. Thomas Sowell wrote:
Just as Europeans enslaved Africans, North Africans enslaved Europeans more Europeans than there were Africans enslaved in the United States or in the 13 colonies from which the nation was formed.
The treatment of white galley slaves was even worse than the treatment of black slaves who picked cotton. But there are no movies or television dramas about it comparable to Roots, and our schools and colleges dont pound it into the heads of students.
And there's Michele Bachmann who stands behind this statement:
Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA's first African-American President.
The thread cited containing that quote offers varying viewpoints on that matter, as is typical of hot topics here on Free Republic.
funny that as here in FL a couple of Yankee liberals and the NAACP wanted to change the schools name from confederate Generals.
Oh these schools are all in black areas and guess what, the blacks there voted to keep their names.
I know a black guy who wears a confederate flag on a shirt he has and not one person has a problem with it but then again it depends how PC one is.
post 193 if you get a chance.
blacks voted to keep their schools name here.
You know there were black slave owners right?
Got it.
Let's face it, liberals love to trot out the Confederate Flag because its their visual version of the "n-word."
If it is not being used by someone on their side, the "offense" is considered by them to be so grievous they can ratchet up to physical or "alternative" violence without any further need of justification.
Yes.
And I am offended at the people who keep raping my country and heritage.
The truth is that many of crybabies are mad because they ARE NOT slaves anymore.
They resent freedom in many cases.
You actually have the hubris to believe you are more knowledgeable than the guy involved in the display?
My ancestors were slaves in the South. So I know some facts about how life was like under the Confederacy.
Why do so many who glorify the Confederate flag downplay the ugliness of slavery Southern states wanted to keep?
