The Republican party, the party of Lincoln, now dominates in the South.
The Confederate democrat party has lost it.

The Confederate flag represents the states rights to enslave others. That’s not resistance to tyranny its an embracement of it.

The US Constitution and the US flag should be a source for regional pride as it embraces the liberty for all the Confederate flag does not.

So at what should the South have known indicated the Federal Government would cease abridging the Constitution they originally signed on to in good faith?

what flag flew while a war went on out west against Apaches, Crow, you know that war which killed, raped, robbed and moved them off their land, which flag flew on slave ships and which flag flew on Govt buildings during the war between the states?

Some can argue the stars and stripes enslaved others and is a sign of oppression, my point is that anyone can get all PC and get all stupid about any issue if they like , it is up to others to just ignore them and call them out as what they are, stupid

“...The Confederate flag represents the states rights to enslave others. ...”

To you, maybe it does. To others, it doesn’t. It’s that simple. Difference of opinions, on an opinion forum.

You want to convince other folks out here of your point of view, you need to present them with fact, not emotion.

“...My ancestors were slaves in the South. ...”

That doesn’t give you a mandate to tell other people how they should see that flag. Many people on this forum have ancestors who DIED fighting under BOTH flags.

Many people believe it was less about slavery and more about the Constitutional right of sovereign states to determine their own path.

Many people also think Lincoln was every bit the tyrant for sending Federal troops to invade the South. That doesn’t make it so, but nevertheless there is that perception to people who’s ancestral homes, farms, and plantations were burned to the ground, confiscated, and looted. And it is understandable from THEIR point of view - just as YOUR perspective of having ancestors who were slaves gives you the perspective you have.

The parallax view is what it is - the difference in perspective of an object viewed from two different sides.

You’re new out here. Your profile is 2012. And you are very welcome to be here. But some advice - You should learn how to converse with folks out here without jumping to the “Racist” card so quickly.

As a “Christian Conservative Republican black female” you’ll find you have many more allies than you realize once you realize we have a common enemy.

One Team, One Fight... and the Confederate flag is NOT the fight.

Look to DC for the real fight.
