Ohio officials say two prison guards falsified logs documenting their observation of Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro in the hours before he killed himself.
A report from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction says video indicates no checks were done on Castro at least eight times the afternoon and evening before he died.

“His pants and underwear were pulled down to his ankles. The relevance of this finding is unclear. These facts, however, were relayed to the State Highway Patrol for consideration of the possibility of auto-erotic asphyxiation,” the report says.
Castro was found facing the cell door with his knees bent, according to Franklin County coroner’s office notes. The hinge was almost 7 feet from the floor of the cell. Police reports listed Castro at 5 feet 7 inches tall.

The review also indicates that the MedCare Ambulance response to the emergency call was “significantly delayed.”
The contract with the EMS provider indicates they should have a 15 minute response, but it took 34 minutes on the night Castro died, according to the report.
The report said Castro was not en route to the hospital until at least an hour after he was discovered.

I always believed the suicide claim was BS. And I’m adding more BS to the erotic asphyxiation angle.

Some crimes - like what Castro committed - deserve nothing less than what he got.

I must confess, I like the idea of the guy offing himself because he couldn’t bear being caged like his victims a whole lot more than the guy offing himself accidentally getting his sick jollies one last time.
Still, dead is dead. The state doesn’t have to spend one more penny looking after him. And Castro’s victims know for sure that he can never hurt them, or anyone else, ever again.
Either way, he’s just as dead.
