The government shutdown may be keeping furloughed federal workers at home, but on Monday the U.S. Army contracted to buy a mechanical bull.
The $47,174 contract was awarded on Oct. 7 to Mechanical Bull Sales Inc. of State College, Penn.
Lt. Col. Hank McIntire of the Utah National Guard tells CNSNews.com that the mechanical bull is regularly used as a tool by recruiters at fairs and other events.

Well they have enough B S around, they figured there had to be a Bull in there somewhere. I would like to here Pelosi explain again how everything that can be cut has been. Who decided this was essential?
It's not as if the pResident has the gumption to ride it.

Well, I can see the logic. Keep people out of Valley Forge, Grand Canyon and Smoky Mountains and buy a mechanical bull. This is good logic. Basic Needs for slimming down.

I really have to yell about this. I am in the fair industry and I have friends that have invested in a mechanical bull, paid the insurance, the EXPENSIVE fair rents...all for the hope of a decent return.
Now the ARMY comes in with tax payer supplied mechanical bull, reduced fair rent because they are non-profit/gov entity and they will have folks ride the bull FOR FREE—thus eliminating any profit the poor self employed guy that has to haul his bull around from fair to fair just to feed his pie hole.
he has to wait until nighttime when enough folks get liquored up to ride. He has to invest in a sound system. Pay upwards of $1000 to $3000 for a spot at the fair. Two vehicles, one to haul the bull and crap on a trailer, another is living quarters for the season. Logistics! Somethign always going wrong with the equipment...
And now the government comes in and gives it all away for free.
What a great country.

He says the previous mechanical bull had broke down and was beyond repair. Sums up the whole affair.
