Poor Carl Bernstein: he's suffering a bad bout of MSM nostalgia. He longs for the good old media days when the news was dominated by the likes of the New York Times, the Washington Post and the then three broadcast networks. They could slam Republicans with impunity, without any conservative media counterweight.
In covering the shutdown, today's media culture, kvetches Carl, is just too darn fair and balanced in its treatment of those lying, McCarthyite Republicans. That's why President Obama and the congressional Dems' poll numbers are surprisingly bad. Such was Carl's complaint on today's Morning Joe.

Carl Bernstein complains media too fair to Republicans! Ping to Today show list.
Because now with Obama saying he wont negotiate at all and the GOP talking compromise and negotiate everyday its making his buddies in the media job to take Obama’s side much more difficult.
But beware, neither side has an incentive to deal until the last minute which is when we canexpect something..
Libs want Obama to say ‘no’ to everything because they believe Dems will benefit from anything bad.
Yeah, he’s right. If the media were any “fairer” to our side, they’d be loading Republicans onto cattle cars.
Which planet is Bernstin from? The MSM has been beating the Republicans heads against the walls for the past 5 years siding with the Democrats because of their adoration of the first black skinned president (or brown skinned if you consider he’s half black). I guess since Obamacare has turned out to be a trainwreck and all of concerns of the right that we warned the left are coming true the MSM decided to capitalize on it for ratings (after all they don’t call thm media whores for nothing).
Ironic ain’t it?
These leftists just cannot imagine that people disagree with them pure and simple. Because the president happens to be black, they can throw the race card, and not argue the “facts” as Bernstein claims he would like to do. If you have the stomach to watch any of these people, they are bullies, uncivil, arrogant and dismissive of anyone who doesn’t share their views.
Is that a reporter in your pocket or are you happy to see me.
This is what should have happened the first time the petulant President screwed over Boehner in negotiations and he capitulated with tears to 0bama.
I hope, sincerely hope, Boehner and gang is learning something as well from this. 0bama and the democrats cannot have unbridled power. We, yes WE, are the check and balance against such tyranny.
Are we going to ‘win’ this? I don’t believe so in the sense that many here want to see the ‘win.’ But long-term this is showing the public that they are not dealing with a President that is out to help our Nation.
But then, was any of this ever really about 0bamacare or is it about stopping the progressive agenda?
This is a mind fried with LSD.

I've been following the HealthCare.gov page on Facebook right from the ObamaCare get-go last Tuesday. The comments have been nearly universally negative right from the start.
Likewise on Twitter.
I think the Obamacrats are overlooking or underestimating the power of Facebook, Twitter and the rest of the Social Networks to undermine the "good work" being done by the MSM to provide a positive picture of Obamacare to the American public. I think the power of the MSM is, at least in this case, being eroded dramatically by these networks.
The main reason why this is happening: These networks, particularly Facebook and Twitter, are dominated by the young (and often foolish Dem supporting) people who are among the targeted victims of the Obamcare Scam. Fortunately they are seeing through the plan to take their money, provide expensive health insurance they don't need in order to subdized those who are poor and those who are big users of hearthcare, typically the senior members of our society.
Berstein needs to get past the idea that "The Media" is the NYT and MSNBC and the like. Those days are gone forever. Just read the comments on HealthCare.gov to see why.
I guess dingy hairy emailed the dim talking points to all the SRM heads.
Here's how I define winning(it also defines losing) and it applies to both sides.
Winning is :
a) Getting the other side to give in on your policy preferences and get them into law, it either happens due to immediate public pressure or from 'b' .
You get what you want and the other side steps out of the way, that is winning.
b) Winning means you turned the issue(s) in voters minds (even if you lose 'b') but you win the election on it so you can later do ‘a’ later
Example : 2007 to 2008 Speaker Pelosi opposed Bush in a way such that dems were able to take over the congress with such great numbers that they had a filibuster proof Senate 2009.
Then they passed Obama-care
That is ‘winning’
To be fair Pelosi had earmarks to bribe her members with, Bohner doesnt.
One hit wonder.
“One hit wonder.”
Yep. He’s one of those people who was in the right place at the right time and he ended up semi-immortal because of it.
Exposing Watergate appears to have satisfied Bernstein's thirst for truth. It certainly didn't propel him to expose the truth about subsequent--and worse--U.S. Presidential scandals.
Come to think of it—maybe a thirst for truth wasn’t his motivation for the Watergate exposure.
