An Ohio school district has agreed to keep a portrait of Jesus Christ off school property and pay a $95,000 fine in the face of legal pressure from the American Civil Liberties Union.
The Jackson City School District, located in Jackson, reached a deal on Friday after the ACLU, along with the Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation, sued the district in February, citing unconstitutional actions and charging that students and visitors to the school will continue to suffer permanent, severe and irreparable harm and injury, according to the lawsuit.
The picture had been hanging in Jacksons high school since 1947 as part of a Hall of Honor display meant to highlight famous historical figures.
The case could have ended before it began if the school had simply acknowledged that it is not the governments place to endorse one specific religion in a public school that children are legally required to attend, said James Hardiman, the legal director for Ohios ACLU chapter.

But it gets even more outrageous as the ACLU tries to spin the story as if somehow the school was at fault. The case could have ended before it began....
How the hell this cockamamie statement has anything to do with anything is more than maddening.
You would never find a similar kind of religious witch hunt regarding Islamic sensibilities, say a picture of Mohammad being displayed in some Muslim school. Not the least of which Islam forbids any imagery, iconic representation of history's very first Islamofascist/Jihadist/Terrorist.
The prohibition against 'Woe-Mo' imagery has been explained in practical terms as that of Mohammad's facial features having made the view of a camel's butt seem arousing by comparison.
So atheists don’t believe in Jesus, therefore they want His picture taken down. The logic escapes me.

Current Communist Goals
#28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

If Ohio State takes in public funds they should reject it and tell ACLU pound sand. Surely the football program covers most costs.
Put up a picture of the actor Robert Powell.
“No. No Jesus picture here.”
Someone gets offended, makes a complaint and a letter is sent or a phone call is made.
Principal files 13.
Maybe later, a knock on the door ... come on in gentlemen ... no, I don't think I will
a bit later, the news is notified and armed popo calls aknockin' ... yeah?, waddaya' want? ... no, I don't think I will
Freerepublic gets a hold of it, as well as Matt and WND, Glenn is notified and the picture is seized by force.
the next day, another goes up.
See ... I just can't see anyone doing anything serious because of a picture ... except ... losin' a hunnert grand BECAUSE of a picture (with no fight) ???
I don't think so.
Absolutely ,, even atheists MUST CONCLUDE that he is a powerful historical figure even if they don’t believe in the historical texts which we call the “Bible” .
continue to suffer permanent, severe and irreparable harm and injury, according to the lawsuit.
This is hysterical.
The school district sure does look foolish caving to this rhetoric above.
The ACLU is stupid. How can it be a picture of Jesus when no one knows what he looked like? Why won’t anyone stand up to the ACLU? I guess the same reason they won’t stand up to Obama, though I admit I don’t know what that reason is.
Couldn’t they just put up a picture of Mohammed to
make it even?
/extreme Sarc.
will continue to suffer permanent, severe and irreparable harm and injury, according to the lawsuit.
Can I claim the same from looking at and listening to Obama?
The case could have ended before it began if the school had simply acknowledged that it is not the governments place to endorse one specific religion in a public school that children are legally required to attend, said James Hardiman, the legal director for Ohios ACLU chapter."
See ... THE school is not the school children are legally required to attend ...
A school is the requirement.
If it's public, don't take Jesus down, put up Mary Baker Eddy and mohamud.
Or admit it is government indoctrination camp.
This and other horrendous damage to our country and society were made possible by the 17th Amendment.
Atheists are idiots.
The school took the picture down, but still got a "fine" of $95K?
And the "fine" goes to the ACLU and the Freedom From Religion kooks?
There are no actual pictures of Yashua anyway. Nobody knows what He looked like. They're all depictions.
How did they know it was Jesus. If they claim to know what Jesus looked like, he must have been a historical figure. If they say some might think that it is a religious symbol then for the sake of the pantheists and new-agers all matter must be removed. The sun has been worshiped in antiquity by the Egyptians, no windows or pictures of yellow circles, the moon was considered a deity, no moons, stars Yep they must go too. The only way to purify the schools from all religious associations is to create a perfect void of nothingness, oops that would nirvana a Hindu religious tenant.
But still, depictions are not prohibited.
Matthew 10:33
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
