About a half-dozen bikers accused of beating an SUV driver last weekend used their helmets to attack him and kicked his head and body as he lay on the ground, New York police said. Police said one of the bikers -- Robert Sims -- also stomped on the driver's head and body, according to a detective's criminal complaint. Sims was one of two bikers who turned himself in to authorities on Friday. He has been charged with attempted assault, gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

They should be publicly stripped of all rank and position

Then given a standard 10 yrs...as in standing together on a outdoor stage for sentence.

Much crying...public apology ...heavy remorse...a year from now they can send’m all to afganistan or something but
Because millions have seen it on video...and every actor will eventually be identified if they havent already..this time damage control will have to be public and convincing.

Overt rather than covert.

In this instance damage to faith in U.S.law enforcement is prolific, undeniable, and untimely.

The power of viral video,is really kind of scary .

LOL really?

It’s quite simple to see what happened. After a day of hooning, this merry band of morons decided to ride in a totally stupid and unsafe manner. They took up all lanes of traffic on a highway, effectively walling this driver in. The driver tried to merge over not seeing the bikes in his blind spot. He likely bumped a rider or got too close which basically sparked this incident. A day of acting like they owned everything probably fed into the crazed over reaction, the brake checking, and eventually the crash, chase, and beating. It begins and ends with the riders at fault.

Sport bikes and motorcycles in general werent big with the rap crowd until about 2004-2005. After that, it went straight down hill. Hooning around town is one thing, doing it in a group of 20 or more makes it gang activity and look how fast that can escalate. Because small mistakes can kill a motorcycle rider, they tend to over react, and the last people on earth you want riding motorcycles in groups is the hip hop crowd. They cant gather in groups of more than 10 before they start killing each other and everyone else in the way.

Perhaps, but I didn’t think any of them missed.

What would have happened if Alexian Lien had pulled out a 9 mm and busta cap? Would it be George Zimmerman replayed?

“attempted assault” is when someone walks up to me with a baseball bat and says I'm going to hurt you. Then when I pull out my Kimber and point it at there nose, they say never mind...

“The SUV driver wasn’t able to stop in time”

“For purposes of insurance and policing, the driver of the car that rear-ends the other car is almost always considered to be at fault due to not leaving enough stopping distance or lack of attention. An exception to this rule comes into play if the rear-ended vehicle is in reverse gear.”

They surrounded the driver beforehand and forced him to stop. Driver was in fear for his life and his wife and child and did what the authorities always tell you to do: Run Away....he just used his SUV, that’s all.

As for that biker that got run over and may be paralyzed, at least he won’t stay a bike gang member now unless he can ride a tri-wheeler.

Fifty or so ninja bikes riding like this and harassing other drivers aren’t up to anything good.

I read that this was a black biker gang. And that the guy who helmeted the SUV had been to jail many times.

I gues they were going to the Uncle Obama family picnic.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the driver of the SUV run down a couple of bikers and then drive away?”

Once they got his door open I suspect anything he did at that point was justified (as self-defense); they left him no escape. This guy probablt watched Reginald Denny take a brick to the temple (during the LA riots) and figured he wouldn’t go down the same way.

FWIW, public opinion in this area is supportive of the SUV driver; the more we learn about the bikers’ actions that day (prior to the incident) the more people will support the SUV driver.

Are you seriously trying to justify what these bikers did?

Stating the law and the facts.

The exception applies to cars backing up or out of parking spaces.

We are not getting the whole picture and we never will.

The court of public opinion has already passed sentence.

Did you bother to watch the video? There were cops in the crowd attacking the driver. What excuse are you going to provide for them?

I saw the unedited video long before it was pulled by YouTube or posted here.

And where, pray tell, was any “excuse” put forth?

Plain and simple, I pasted the law about rear-ending vehicles.

You read more into that, apparently.

Somebody else asked about the severely injured biker.

Sounds like, if not excuses, than at least a justification for what happened. The whole story's right on the video. Also, after what happened and what's been revealed about the "bikers" the court of public opinion also happens to be the reality - these guys are guilty of terrorizes a man and his family and they should be offered no sympathy or quarter.

I read that this was a black biker gang.

I'd say yes but there were also hispanics in it.....Cruz for example.

He was just interviewed on GMA, dressed in a suit coat and accompanied by his lawyer.

Should Be Agg Assault since feet were used.
But since the perps are Obamas kids or outlaw enforcement don’t be surprised if they get charged with littering.

The reports are that the driver did stop after hitting the MC but the other cyclists started hitting the car and slashing the tires so he took off. Is that not what happened?
